Liberty lights flicker

Hello everyone.
Pretty new to the Jeep world.
I've been reading through the electrical forum and you folks seem to be pretty well informed group.
And I hope you can help me.
I'd like to ask a question about my lights if I could..
I have a Jeep 2006 Liberty with about 50 K on her.
I LOVE it.

A couple of months ago, I noticed that when I drive at night, the headlights seem to "shimmer".
The fog lights and the running lights as well.
I can exaggerate the effect, if I use any of the power window switches.
IE: The Windows are up, and I press the switch as if I wanted to roll them up.
I think you get the picture.
The "shimmering" or "flickering" is there, even when I don't use the windows.

I havenít done anything to the vehicle.
IE: Added lights or modified anything at all.

I don;t realy drive much at night.
But I live in Wisconsin.
And at this time of year, it's dark when I drive to work and dark when I drive home.

It's damn embarassing. (Besides being potentially dangerous.)

Any ideas as to what, in the wide wide world of sports the issue might be ?

Any responses would be appreciated.

Sorry, but I can't help you. I truly hate electrical gremlins.

I had an '02 Liberty that would do (I think) the same thing you're talking about, but only the fogs. I simply turned them off when they'd do it. Not exactly an option for you with the headlights, too.

There are so many things controlled by the computer on these newer Jeeps, though, that anything could be screwing with the lights, I'd think.

Oh, yeah... did I say that I hate electrical gremlins?

Good luck.

Did you try this same question on any KJ forums?

Hope this doesn't get me in trouble on the forum but here goes. While I'm sure somebody here may have an opinion or idea as to the problem, you may want to try a site specifically for Libertys. I traded my KJ (Libby) in for a JK not too long ago but when I did have my KJ, I spent most of my time on the L.O.S.T Forum They are an excellent group of jeepers and may be able to help you out.

My .02 as to your problem would be you have a short in the electrical system somewhere. When it rains, the resistance from the short to ground is decreased causing an increased drain on the electrical system which may be causing your lights to flicker. I'd first check you battery connections (positive and negative). Then any power wires under the hood to see if any insulation may have rubbed off, again this includes grounding wires as this could also be a bad grounding. I'm not very good with them and electrical gremlins are always a PITA but hope these basic tips help.

Joe, you are not the only one here that was/is L.O.S.T.!

Good advice directing the OP over there.
