Sub box ideas

I have a 12" Kicker CompVT and I still need to fit at least a full size cooler
in the back of a 2dr and still be able to open the storage lid.

Kicker recommends a sealed 1 cu.ft. box, but they sell a .85 cu.ft.
"truck box" for that sub... so .85 is my target.

Any box ideas?

Rockford Fosgates website has a really neat "box building wizard" thing that you can use to customize your box dimensions and still get the air space that your sub needs. It helped me draw up the plans for my box.

http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/rftech/box_wizard.asp

Try it out! If you don't plan on building your own box, a local audio shop would be willing to build whatever you want, just bring in the dimensions that you figure up w/ the website! Just make sure you plan for the woofer displacement and the mounting depth! Good luck and keep us updated!

Ok... I tried like h3ll to make a box big enough yet small enough to work.
I never hooked it up to see what it sounded like but I only could get
.67 Cu Ft. in somewhat of a (very tall) stock config. So I gave up.

I did find a buddy w/ a 10" Kicker CVT () and he was more than
willing to trade.

I'll keep track of the build. Just let me know if you want me to post a write up.

Post it.....

It is way down on my list but I still miss a little thump in my music..... always looking for options. I have something up my sleeve but need to talk to my stereo guy about how it will work.

Any progress on this build?

I've been thinking of building a new box to conserve space so I'm really interested in what you come up with. My ideas keep leading me towards a fiber glass enclosure that's about the same size as the JL Audio Stealth Box and mounted in the factory location. Since I don't know how to work with fiber glass and am reluctant to even try I'm at an impasse. Your build might shed some light on ideas I haven't thought of.

Thanks.

Since my last one got stolen im going to build a "stealth" box in early december....
ill start a thread when i get to it.

Havent decided on fiberglass vs wood. I also dont know how to fiberglass but it seems pretty simple. I can always learn.

Yes, but there's just something about him. Something around the eyes, I don't know, reminds me of... me. No. I'm sure of it, I hate him.

Mine will be wood and almost as tall as the back seat...
then over to the quarter panel (to gain extra air space)
and the top, along w/ the roll bar, will be space for a Fire Ext.

here are a couple of pics for my sub box under the drivers seat, keep in mind that i am nowhere near done, but at least i have the general shape down, and my 12" fits nicely inside, now it is a wait for warmer weather or invest in heaters for the garage...

enjoy.

basically hoping to hit 1 cubic foot, this is a much older sub (as i looked at newer alpine stuff, and jl, and whatnot but they are all have too deep mounting requirements) and runs just fine off of .85, like the box it is in now (just a store bought wedge) but that isn't good enough, as i don't want to lose ANY cargo room, once the box is done i will know the exact cubic footage of it, also i am thinking of doing a mold of it so i can repeat it (donno yet tho).

Pretty slick!
I did'nt think there was that much room!
I had originally played with positioning an 8" (that I had lying around)
under the front seats
but went with someting a "lil" bigger...
in a box of my design in the cargo area
I think it might be too much
to mount anything larger than that under the front seats
it would be alot of fun to get first time passenger reactions though

scene: Agaudo smashes cockroach to provoke ventura
Agaudo: Homicide!, ventura how you gonna solve that one?
Ventura: Good question Agaudo, first I'd establish a motive..in this case the killer saw the size of the bugs dick and became insanely jealous!

there is that much room under the drivers, only after some grinder time and some sensor and plug relocation, it was a PITA, but it will be worth it in the end, i did have a 10 inch pioneer shallow mount under there to begin with, but it wasn't up for the task, no enough bass, so i went the long hard route, fibreglass and a twelve.

'Glass can be molded pretty thin. I hope you can get the air you need,

I gave up on my 12.
(I really wanted a 10 anyway, I am a rock guy, and wanted more of a 'punch' than a 'boom')

I am still working on the box, so I'll keep you posted.
(I'm at work non stop! Launching a new "big 'ol jet-airliner" )
