iPod interface with stock sound system (Infiniti)

Ok, my dealer has no idea what I am looking for, so I will run by you guys. I am wanting an iPod interface that allows you to use the head unit as the iPod control. This would allow me to stow the iPod in the glovebox.
I have a nearly identical head-unit in my Dodge Magnum and it has this interface/cable system. I simply plug the iPod into the connector in the glovebox.
I slid my Jeep's head-unit out this weekend and noticed an empty port in the back. Is this for the iPod connector? If so, does anyone know the part number?
Thanks in advance.

*edit* I do NOT want the FM modulated interface.

You need to tell us what head unit you have, Single, 6 disk, or MyGig RER (GPS) or MyGig Ren (non nav). Once you do that it'll be easier to tell you what parts you need.

I'm going to assume that you do not already have the Uconnect Module. So, you'll need part number:
82211878 http://www.justforjeeps.com/cesyuchafr.html

Then you'll also want to order the iPod cable to go with it:

82210787AB http://www.justforjeeps.com/ipinm20.html

Once you've installed them both (do it yourself it's very easy), you'll need to go to the dealer and have them use the StarScan tool to enable uConnect.

Once that's done, you'll have the ability to control your iPod through the head unit, without FM modulation. Here's a good write up on the whole thing:

http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f96/i...-mygig-497556/

Those part numbers I listed are the latest ones on the just for jeeps site, but double check them to make sure they are what you need.

You've got it much easier than Ape. To enable uConnect all you'll need is the Mopar Mic Kit:
82211743AB http://www.justforjeeps.com/ucmikit.html

and to get your iPod functioning through the MyGig you'll have to also have the MyGig Specific iPod Integration cable:
82211853 http://www.justforjeeps.com/ipodwiring.html

Edit: iPod integration through the MyGig is only available with the 09s and up, for anyone who doesn't know this already.

Oh, BS once you've got the mic you'll need to go into the MyGig settings menu and select "enable JK/VR". You get to the menu by pressing Menu and Seek Up and Seek Down all at once. Be careful when in there to only change the one option as it's been reported that pressing stuff at random in there can brick your mygig.

You would need the same set up as APE, but some of the 07 radios did not have an active port for ipod control. If you have one that is not active you would have to upgrade to a newer HU.

Or you can do the cheap and easy and simply connect the headphone output to the aux input and control your iPod from the iPod which is sitting right next to the radio or, like mine, on the center console. Costs a few bucks. Does not charge the iPod but a seperate in car charger takes care of that.

We have the controller in Good Wife's Grand Cherokee. It is nice to see the info on the display but my usual use of the iPod is to choose a play list and let her go. I get in trouble trying to drive and searching the contents of the iPod.

That Aux port works pretty good for your CB as well.

Doc... that is what I am doing today. It's a hassle. I'd much rather have it in the glovebox (out of sight, out of mind). I am thinking about doing a whole new head unit to take advantage of more features.

If you go that route you may want to check into one of these units so you can at least use the line out port on your ipod so you get the best sound quality. That way you only have one volume adjustment also which is on the stock head unit.

How can you tell if your port for ipod control is active or not? I have an 07 REQ w/ 6CD and want to figure it out before I buy what I need.
