Bringing back the ''Build it yourself'' HIDprojectors HID Projector Headlights

We've been testing bringing back the Built It Yourself 7" Bi-Xenon Headlight.

I'm going to open this up to the JKO community now as well.

Here are the details.

Its a slow roll out now and prices are subject to change but here's the scoop.

The Build It Yourself "Kit" will be priced at $320 + shipping and includes:

2 HIDprojectors.com metal housings (without lenses - you can reuse your stock JK lenses or buy a new pair from us for $75)
2 HIDprojectors.com Bi-Xenon (high and low beam) Projectors with mini gatling gun shrouds
Enough sealant to attached the lenses for a sealed 7" headlight
35W ballasts
H13 Harness with can bus cancelers
Your choice of bulbs

We've designed it this way to allow for true customization. Some guys want to reuse their stock lenses to keep costs down and others want additional custom options. This will allow you to purchase only what you need, when you need it.

TO ORDER:

Right now we do not have this live on the site so please email me at [email protected] if you are interested in ordering. I'll need a list of all of your choices in order to create a custom invoice for you.

One thing to note: You can expect to take 2-5 hours building these if its your first time. Its not difficult to do but it does take some patience. The more options you add, the more work that will need to go into the project. For example, if you are installing halos or angel eyes or devil eyes, you'll need to drill into the housing to allow the wires to pass through. If you choose a shroud that needs custom mounting or trimming, you'll need to solve for that as well. Ok, thats enough rambling - feedback is welcomed - what do you guys think?

We've had a few takers and would like to solicit a bit more feedback.

Do you guys prefer a kit where you can just buy what you need or would you prefer something that has everything bundled together? I receive questions from customers who purchased plug-and-play HID kits and want to reuse their ballasts and harness - this will allow you to do that.

Thoughts? Questions? Comments?

Ok thanks guys. Right now I can support either option, they just aren't on the website yet.

Email me at [email protected] to work out a quote.

Let me know if you'll be reusing your own lenses or if you'd like a brand new pair.

I have a 63 Volkswagen. It has 7" headlights. Will this kit work? I know the V-Dub headlight buckets work in a jeep because I'm using one in it now .

I think its great that you're bringing back the DIY kit. I was ready to buy the kit before I realized that it had been discontinued. I got HIDs and if I can upgrade them to projectors I'm sure that I will be doing it soon.

Yes. The old H6024 sealed beams in your VW are very similar to the size and shape of the back of a jeep light. We put these in classic cars and trucks quite often. Just did a 73 AMC Gremlin!

Ha! I got your email and replied. Hopefully I helped clear up some of the confusion. Got a laugh out of the glow stick comment though, that was pretty funny.

Here's a pic that we put together to explain some of the differences in parts. I know you just want the basic lights but ill post this here for others.

I emailed Tom 3 days ago asking him questions. Total kit, DIY kit, all the stuff above, etc. His responses have always been quick, even through the weekend. Finally settled on what I want & am ordering the DIY 'plain jane' kit. 26 whole emails later! Patient all the way.

Thanks again Tom.

No problem! Glad to have the feedback - it helps me understand how to explain the options to someone who's looking at these for the first time. I agree there are a lot of different choices and it can be quite intimidating. Happy to help and I look forward to seeing the pics of your new lights!

We've had some good success with the kits and will continue to sell these to those interested. With the DIY kits you can choose to reuse your stock lenses, saving you $$ and making these the most affordable kit on the market.

Thanks for all the nice compliements guys.

Of course I didn't build mine myself, but I stand behind ya' all the way, Tom! Have had lots of comments on my retrofits that you did for me in 2012 and they are still one of my favorite additions to my rig. And I'm currently installing Poison Spyder flares!

I'm constantly looking at the HID Projectors thread to see what new set of lights you've built each week and I like what I'm seeing. Keep it up, man!

Either way, DIY or having Tom build them....these are a great product! Now if only you could retrofit a set of bi-xenon projectors and LED's into the housings for my '14 Grand Cherokee to make them look near the OEM style that comes on the Overland, Summit, and SRT editions.....

Choose your friends & choose your enemies. But choose wisely.

Yes, we have amber, red, white, blue and green for angel eyes, halos and devil eyes too.

And we just got our hands on our brand new color changing angel eyes and halos - I haven't announced these yet - they are pretty slick though - all controlled via wifi and a smart phone app.

Email me directly at [email protected] if you want a quote on the DIY kit.

Bringing it back..

gonna bump this back alive..
im looking into some new lights to replace the magnificent OEM ones.
Issue is our dollar (that Canadian loonie) sucks right now so buying anything from the states marks up the price 25% right off the bat.

I can get the JW Speakers for Can$1100 with anti-flicker but at that price i cant justify it. And truck lights at $600, but their output doesnt measure up.

Then, i was looking into making my own HID kit, getting some housing to fit etc..(not sure if http://www.theretrofitsource.com/ has distributors in Ontario)

I would love to order through HID projectors to know that i'm getting quality products that work together but really dont want to break the bank.

Any help would be great!
