Just ordered more boom...

Since the Jeep is not the best host for large systems, but my Infinity sub is completely shot and I'm already running an aftermarket HU and amp for the surrounds, I just ordered this for the rear...will report on quality after install.

Hey bro, not sure what else to say other than dont do it!
i mean if space requirements is all you're really concerned with you can do waaaay better than a hundred watts in a reallllly small space! may i make a few suggestions?
.....bored as hell at work right now anyway i'd be glad to share

scene: Agaudo smashes cockroach to provoke ventura
Agaudo: Homicide!, ventura how you gonna solve that one?
Ventura: Good question Agaudo, first I'd establish a motive..in this case the killer saw the size of the bugs dick and became insanely jealous!

After a couple weeks of research, here's why I came to the decision:
1) Powered sub. I have a very small amp under the driver's seat currently running all the speakers and the Infinity sub. I didn't want to buy another amp for the sub or try to run it off the small amp.
2) Plug & Play. I just wanted to power it and turn it on. I also like the ability to adjust the output on the fly, as I usually have my 4 year old in the car with me, or if passengers are on board, I don't need to thump everyone out if music is playing.
3) Price - I got this unit for $155 and free shipping. I found a few good options like the Rockford Punch 12" sub in the shallow enclosure, which looks great with the tailgate mount that I've seen in a couple write-ups...but that combo is $299 and requires an amp to power it.

I'm basically looking for a 50% upgrade to the current system. I don't compete in the base competitions, although a little Masta Ace - Born to Roll is necessary sometimes..."I got the, I got the woofers in my Jeep..."

Your suggestions would still be great though. I'm sure everyone can benefit from them.

I can dig that...I would love to drown out the banda pumping in the luv truck beside me sometimes...but the key word here is more boom. Nut huge boom or me luv you long time boom boom...just better than the garbage I'm currently working with.

(note...$155 on stereo leaves more $ for Jeepin parts)

How 'bout suggestions to swap out the crappy paper cone 6.5s (or whatever odd size Infinity uses)?

well i did'nt see any need to swap out the stock surrounds.....they are as loud and as clean as i could/would need for my set-up and when i need to i can turn the bass down from the sub out-put control on my deck

Not gonna lie...that looks like a kickass setup...100x better than that sub box on Quadratec! Nice job.

Is that deck USB? I love my Clarion that can take any USB thumb drive. I have an 8GB with 72 albums and plenty of room to grow. Cancelled my Sirius, since I can get far more random play with my own collection.

Alright... You got my attention!

how is the sound with the top off or with a soft top? I am old skool with stereos from the 90's when Cerwin Vega had the most badass sub on the market! All hail the Stroker 12 powered by Zapco amps

My 3rd car was a '92 Hundai Elantra sedan. Had 60/40 split folding rear seats.
I had a custom box made to fit right where the 60 side folded down and had a 15" Rockford Fosgate in there with a huge amp. I couldn't see out of the rear view mirror when I was playing Nemesis or DJ Majic Mike. LOL

OMG! ha ha ha ha ha i just now saw that video you had up!
cant believe i've never heard that song before!(youtube blocked on work puters)
that sure took me home for a minute!....
i'm gonna have to get a copy of that for the Jeep! just for chits and giggles

yes the Ken does have usb plug, wire sits in the glove box.... unused
and the box is built with the sub firing down into the floor because it's a convertible it does actually help with resonance when topless
it's not as earth shaking as when the top is on but still sounds very loud and clean

my phone has an 8gb mem card and I bluetooth my playlist to the deck via A2DP(stereo Bluetooth)no wires! and get call/text functions through the deck as well

Agaudo: Homicide!, ventura how you gonna solve that one?

Ya...that's a great Jeep tune. I think I posted a "Songs with Jeeps in them" thread at one point.

Anyway...the JK is not the world's friendliest acoustic playground....I figure any little bit helps. Especially if I can get a new tire carrier and/or winch to boot...

Update:

Just got back from the stereo shop.

This thing is AWESOME compared to the stock Infinity setup.

I now have my 2ch amp running the front 6.5s, the deck runs the soundbar 6.5s, and the sub is self powered.

It has a wired remote that adjusts the frequency between 50-150Hz, and the volume of the sub. I mounted it behind the e-brake almost completely out of sight.

I'm very happy with this upgrade!

LMAO at the guys using cassettes in that video!

VEGASSMAN - glad to hear you are happy with your purchase. I have a base system in my X and I need to upgrade soon. I'll definitely keep this in mind.
