Truck Lites are the biggest mistake I've made on my Jeep

So I just wanted to post this up since Truck Lite is unwilling to stand behind their product. This morning I noticed that one of my TL headlamps was cracking. It looks like it took a rock to it which caused the crack. To me headlights should be able to take an impact from a rock, especially when you sell your product based on 'military spec engineering.' I called Truck Lite and the woman said 'well a warranty wouldn't cover that since it's not a product failure.' Yup, I could understand that except you have youtube videos showing you hitting your lights with baseball bats to demonstrate how tough they are. I'd stay away from Truck Lite if I were you. The light output is great and I loved them, but they have been far from trouble free and now their unwillingness to stand behind their product has really aggravated me.

Among the other issues I've had are icing in snowstorms rendering my lights basically useless. Truck Lite denies this is a problem, but many people have had this issue. Also, myself and a few others have had an issue with the high beams as documented in this thread: http://www.jk-forum.com/forums/jk-el...2/#post3803048.

Everyone always asks for opinions on these lights and I always sung their praises because of their output, but screw them at this point.

UPDATE: Truck Lite contacted me and sent an engineer to my house. They said they've had a number of lights come back for this issue, but haven't been able to replicate it in their workshop so they're trying to get out and see the vehicles that are having issues. Of course when the TL engineer got here we couldn't get it to happen, but I'm sending them my videos again and they were happy to help me out. At the end of the day I've got two new headlights and harnesses and they're working on finding and fixing the issue. They seem dedicated to finding the source of the strobing issue.

Sorry about your experience, BUT I love my Truck Lites and so far no customer complaints!

I find that very difficult to believe. I loved mine for a while, but I'm done. The strobing issue featured in these threads has happened to me, this poster, and someone else in my local jeep group.

They still work guys...for $100 they'll go on my dad's project Range Rover County. I hope Truck Lite comes to their senses and does the right thing. I doubt they will though.

Posted up a little review on their facebook with a link to my post as well as some other posts about people having issues with them. They seem to be active on there so we'll see if I hear back from them. I understand the concept of customer recovery very well and not for nothing but if this was handled properly I'd be the first one to sing their praises and to really push their product on anyone who asked me about it(like I did before I started having issues). I just don't get how you sell your product based on its ruggedness and then don't back it up.

Headlight covers

I know this is after the fact, but Doc included this in his headlight shootout. Towards the end of the article.

Yeah, I'd thought about doing that but my lenses were already a little pitted so I was like ah screw it, they are already pitted. I didn't think they'd crack though, especially with how they market their products based on their toughness. What a joke.

I'm confused. If they give you one to replace the broken one they are great lights, but if they don't give you one they suck ass and have all kinds of problems? Make up your mind. They are either shitty lights whether they replace a broken one for you or not OR they are great lights, but won't replace one, even though Truck Lites represents them as super durable.

It sounds more like you really liked the lights, but are pissed, because you expected them to be more durable.

BTW. I'd be pissed too.

I liked the output of the lights, but they had their issues including the flashing/strobing issue documented in this thread: http://www.jk-forum.com/forums/jk-el...roblem-293792/. I'm not sure why you're so confused by the fact that I've had two issues with these lights and if Truck Lite would step up and make it right that I'd be satisfied. I like the lights when they function as intended, but I do not like the lights when they strobe or break under normal use conditions.

That's a bit confusing.

You would really push their product on anyone who asked if they give you a free light, but if they don't, the lights have problems?

Sure, if you think replacing my sometimes functional light with a light that never strobes is 'giving me a free light'...if my lights worked as designed and intended I'd be happy to tell everyone about how great they are(and they are great when they're working). All I was trying to say was I don't like posting threads like this. I'd rather be happy and be telling everyone that Truck Lites are awesome.

OK, I got it now. You will tell everyone they are great if they give you a free light, even though you think they are junk.

No, I think I got a bad set and there are a few other bad sets out there. I think the cracking issue is ridiculous based on how they market their lights, but I think the strobing issue is a QC issue, not a design flaw.

I could be wrong, but I believe it's a CANBUS issue with lots of different led lights, and won't research, because I have no desire to install any led lights.

It's not a canbus issue, it's not the simple flickering like you get when plugging the lights in without a pulse modulation harness. Regardless I have the TL pulse modulation harness. If you don't know what you're talking about why don't you keep your comments to yourself?

Um, my not knowing about your flickering issue has nothing to do with your good lights if they replace it, bad lights if they don't bullshit.

right...good lights if they work, bad lights if they don't is bullshit. All you do is start with people on threads. You really need to get a life.

Meh. It's not all I do, but you're talking out the side of your neck trying to get something replaced, by talking smack about a product you know is good and linking back to this forum and others as trash talk to do it. You like the lights and are just pissed that they won't stand behind them even though they represent them as durable. I get it. You're just doing it in a douchie way. I would imagine eventually this will get moved to dirty laundry anyway.
