STEREO HELP

Hello everyone,

I've searched and searched and I think I've managed to confuse myself.

I have an 07 sport with the base stereo. Santa was nice enough to leave a new head unit under the tree, so it's going in the Jeep.

1st question: Do I need one of the canbus adapters to install the head unit or just a wiring adapter?

2nd question: Which canbus adapter should I use? Metra, Schosche or Pac?

3rd question: What do I need to get for the antenna? It looks like there are different adapter for different years and different stereos, but I can't figure out which one I need.

Thanks in advance,
Gary

I have a 2012 and got almost everything I needed at of all places "Walmart" they had the Schosche adapter and the wiring harness. If you don't have the correct adapater for your antenna check autozone or another local parts store they usually have a variety of them. On a side note. I do not recommend the Schosche. I had to disconnect my battery and now my Jeep is throwing a "lost communication with radio code". The "fix" involves me opening up the dash to reset the module, no thanks. I don't think the code is hurting anything. I hope this helps.

At one time in life I was a MECP master installer, I also spent a month and a half at metra's headquarters in holly hill Florida as they were providing custom install workshops for motorization, speaker enclosures, and so on. All my years of performing installs metra's products have always been above the others. Just my opinion though.

All you should need is a mounting kit, which is probably just the front fascia and you reuse the oem brackets from the stock radio. And then the correct wiring harness. On the harness for the new radio hack all the fuse crap off to get it out of the way, you already have a "radio" fuse so why in the hell do you need a second. You may need a ant. adapter, and if you have steering wheel controls look up idatalink maestro sw, pretty much plug and play and programmed on your computer instead of the others with a wiring nightmare.
