Angry Fiat Customer Service

Have problems with a leaking freedom top, and it took my local dealer 6 months to work out that I have the wrong roof fitted! Started warranty proceedings only for the dealer to go bankrupt.

I then had to start the process again with another dealer, who was unable to put in a claim for a new roof.

I then contacted Fiat/Jeep UK Customer service, who have just offered me a 25% discount on a replacement roof, which would normally cost over £1k.

I know Fiat are still learning about the Jeep brand and their customers, but they are continuing to alienate long time Jeep customers by introducing Wranglers which can't even tow a caravan let alone another Jeep! Spare parts are no longer held in the UK, but are several days away in Italy (1 week to get a replacement windscreen).

I'm on my third set of door hinges after the first two sets rusted (I don't have this problem on my much older TJ).

I have been buying and driving Jeeps for over 12 years now, and like many of my Jeepin' friends, starting to look at other brands to use as tow trucks.

The JK is the only Jeep I've needed to make warranty claims on - all the others have been fine.

I was planning on a few mods to my JK, but not sure I want to keep it now.

Feeling a bit better now after my rant.

That Fiat merger/buyout was the worse thing that ever happened IMO. Sorry about your dilemma on the other side of the pond but I tend to agree that the build quality seemed much better on my '99 and '03 TJ's.

Have you tried a formal complaint to the company, whichever one that may be, indicating your long term history with Jeeps and the recent issues you have had? If not give it a shot.

Or you could buy aftermarket hinges...but pursue the hardtop mismatch.

By wrong top do you mean you have only 2 latch on the front?Starting 2009 they use a third one in the middle to prevent leak.As so weather striping can do wonder fixing leak.

As for the hinge ,i would suspect a poor paint job is the cause, mine are yet to rust and i live in the land of snow where they use damn salt on the road each winter. You could easily rust proof your current hinge at low cost.

Towing, problem is not coming from Chrysler or fiat, but from the user who want to use the vehicle in a way it never was meant to.

While i do get your frustration, the problem you mention are quite minor to decide to scrap your love for jeep.

Winter is coming.
