A month ago a friend asked if I could watch his 1yr old golden retriever this weekend. Without hesitation I said sure. I love large dogs, especially goldens.
First, Friday night the dog gets diarrhea. I call him to let him know and I get no answer. I'm then woken up three times in the middle of the night because the dog has really bad diarrhea, like the kind that makes grown men want to vomit. Now you should know the apartment complex I live in has a "you pick up your dogs shit policy".
Then, Saturday I get no sleep and the dog is shitting constantly (every half hour). My friend calls me back to let me know that he changed the dogs food a couple of days ago (thanks for letting me know ahead of time). I manage to get the dogs stomach to settle down a bit and I find out through facebook that they let the dog eat some previously killed animal the day prior to me getting the dog (thanks again for not fucking telling me this).
Today, I called my friend to ask when he was coming back to get his dog. No answer. I call again that afternoon and finally get an answer. Sometime this evening around dinner time. 30 minutes before he is supposed to be here I get another call asking me if it is okay if he comes back tomorrow. He did not leave me enough food to get the dog to tomorrow which means I would have to drive across town to get the dog more food for the night. Plus tomorrow I'm working from 8am to 6 pm so no one will be with the dog all day. Naturally I said fuck no.
What pisses me off is not that the dog got sick and ate rotting animal. It's a dog, shit happens, I know. What pisses me off is that 1. I am not informed of this ahead of time so I start worrying the dog is sick or has worms, which could get my dog sick and 2. He thinks that he has no need whatsoever to fucking come back. I had plans this evening which I now had to trash because he couldn't hold to his own damned schedule.
Last time I will be watching his dog.
