You know what pisses me off...

A month ago a friend asked if I could watch his 1yr old golden retriever this weekend. Without hesitation I said sure. I love large dogs, especially goldens.

First, Friday night the dog gets diarrhea. I call him to let him know and I get no answer. I'm then woken up three times in the middle of the night because the dog has really bad diarrhea, like the kind that makes grown men want to vomit. Now you should know the apartment complex I live in has a "you pick up your dogs shit policy".

Then, Saturday I get no sleep and the dog is shitting constantly (every half hour). My friend calls me back to let me know that he changed the dogs food a couple of days ago (thanks for letting me know ahead of time). I manage to get the dogs stomach to settle down a bit and I find out through facebook that they let the dog eat some previously killed animal the day prior to me getting the dog (thanks again for not fucking telling me this).

Today, I called my friend to ask when he was coming back to get his dog. No answer. I call again that afternoon and finally get an answer. Sometime this evening around dinner time. 30 minutes before he is supposed to be here I get another call asking me if it is okay if he comes back tomorrow. He did not leave me enough food to get the dog to tomorrow which means I would have to drive across town to get the dog more food for the night. Plus tomorrow I'm working from 8am to 6 pm so no one will be with the dog all day. Naturally I said fuck no.

What pisses me off is not that the dog got sick and ate rotting animal. It's a dog, shit happens, I know. What pisses me off is that 1. I am not informed of this ahead of time so I start worrying the dog is sick or has worms, which could get my dog sick and 2. He thinks that he has no need whatsoever to fucking come back. I had plans this evening which I now had to trash because he couldn't hold to his own damned schedule.

Last time I will be watching his dog.

My friend's dog ate all the floor molding off my kitchen once and then destroyed a door.

These things happen. You tell them, "I love you brother - but I'll never watch your dog again."

That dog could have been fine with its owners. Many dogs when left with sitters have problems. It is just part of the game. Shame on them and you for not knowing and expecting this ahead of time.

Rest In Peace Guinness. You will never be forgotten. My brother and my best friend

Not the dogs fault. Tell your friend you won't be watching his dog any more. Then, act like everything is fine and give your friend some ELax brownies to munch on while he drives home....

Sorry, Im a firm believer in "Don't get mad. Get even"

But he would never find some one to pet-sit if he was saying:

"Dude......Will you watch my dog for a couple days coughweekcough? He has wicked screaming yellow projectile diarrhea sometimes.....like after he's been scrounging rotten carrion."

I actually feel sorry for the dog. Sounds like a shitty friend and a shitty dog-owner. I feel for you, man. You were just trying to help him out and he acts this way.....

F-him.

WTF was he doing that he had to go away all weekend and not pick up calls, then bail another full day on his ETA?

Yeah, his dogsitting card would be pulled, shredded and incinerated in my book. It's one thing to have a sick dog. It's another to realize Fido just extended his stay a bit. Unacceptable to learn all that shit AFTER the fact after having to chase him down about his sick dog. That you're keeping for another day.

I'm pretty lucky. My neighbor nextdoor is pretty awesome about watching my pooch whenver we need him to and has two dogs that mine grew up with since he was just a few months old.

Turnabout is fair play and all, but no need to further abuse Fido's already tender balloon knot.

That sucks. A friend we've made since moving down here is going on an extended weekend vacation for 4th of july. I will probably have to work, but we offer to let his teenage kids stay out our place. Next thing I know, he is trying to negotiate us driving 30 minutes to his place to walk their THREE dogs. their way of conceding? asking us if we want to just stay the night at their place with their two cat's that we are allergic too. some people need to learn how to just say thank you and walk away. not try to pawn off more animals, or switch food so that they just get sick. Big difference between one wet poop from being upset from new surroundings versus some diarrhea
