New Hard Core Tech - Please!

With the evolution of this site and the level of JK modifications going on, could the powers that be please consider having two separate Modified Tech Forums. It just doesn't seem right having a cutting edge diesel install next to a "whose stickers look best on my Jeep thread. The Modified Tech Forum is, at the high end awesome, but the 33-35 inch tire and budget boost "should I or shouldn't I" questions and picture requests are killing the rush. Really, isn't it time to move that forum in a new direction?

Seems like a reasonable idea. After four years of the JK, seems there's plenty of hardcore tech to feed another forum.

Don't think it really has anything to do with tire size, more about the level of difficulty of the modification.

Putting a cage still isn't hard core. Hacking the shit out of it and morphing it into a buggy is. There isn't a ton of that on this site, so i don't see the point. Some of thsoe BB threads etc...just need to be moved to the JK general discussion forum and beat the crap out of those that post that stuff in the modified section.

Pain heals, chicks dig scars, glory lasts forever.

^This.

I don't think its necessary at this point.. there are only 4 or 5 threads that I can think of that would qualify.

Just need to keep the "mirror drill' type threads out of there to begin with.

Can the "Modified" section be changed to "Modified (Hardcore over 2.5" BB)"?

I think an in depth FAQ would solve a lot of repeatedness. Someone asks "Will 35" tires fit without a lift?" and they can be pointed to the FAQ which will most likely answer the next 10 or 20 questions they will have as well. if it is done right.

I don't think we are anywhere near that yet. I've seen about 5 "hardcore" JKs on this site, if that. It's a vehicle specific website, there is bound to be repeat questions. The newbies just don't know any better. We don't want to scare them off. I do think a well written FAQ is a great idea. I can even include a link to the faq to new members when they register.

That should be necessary! I think a check box at the bottom "agreeing" to the terms that they must "search" first...

Better yet, can you BL the word "wave" so that it comes up as "****"???

Nah, I was just thinking that typically someone who would be building for 42"s would build to a different level than those building to a 33". That's a pretty good point though. I didn't think of that scenario.

The FAQ would probably work alot easier.

It should stay the way it is right now,the hardcore surfing to all these tread are great giving a hint or some help . They would most likely not see these more basic project if the hardcore part was in another section.

I’m just flattered my build was noticed; I was worried it wasn’t hardcore enough… I agree that a faq section is a good idea.

We had a pretty good faq on JF that I helped build. I was banned maybe a week after it went into full activity. I think I did the majority of the footwork finding all the threads and making titles and links in there and then they banned me for calling a dude a fat lazy piece of shit. The truth hurts and it got me banned. I still hold a grudge against that site for doing that. I would have never put in all that work, time and effort had I known that I would get banned for such a minimalistic thing... not to mention it too place in the SR that is supposed to be an "anything goes" part of the forum. Im glad ya'll arent a bunch of pussies over here like those guys... They are about as sheepley as the guys at JKF..

YOu just sound like a trouble-maker Military Man.... no wonder you got the hammer... try mixing in some more hugs and reach-arounds now and again.

Clean up the modified section, suggest FAQ and if you want hardcore you can find all you want and more on Pirate.

I agree with pirate for hardcore. Once it gets too hard core its not much of a JK anymore anyway so why do you need to be on a JK specific forum?

And how dare you call me a trouble maker
