Fuel splashback...

As mysteriously as it came, mysteriously it has quit. I added my complaint on the NTSB website about the fuel splashback... and a month later after I did that, it quit doing it. And it still has not happened more than once in the last 6 months. All that means, is when I least expect it, I'll be buying a new pair of tennis shoes.............

Mine only did it when the tank had 1/4 or less fuel. If it was more it wouldn't spit. I took a video since the dealer couldn't replicate the issue. That is why I have a new tank waiting for it to happen again..lol

There is some recall on gas nozzles in Cali. CARB is at it again. Turns out that how ever the nozzle realizes it is supposed to turn off gets screwed up after awhile. No idea if that is what is going on.

Mine started this after two and a half years of ownership. Fuel tank vent tube was the problem, the fix required complete fuel tank replacement. Here is the thread about it:

I'd never had this happen and just figured that you guys were crazy - jk But a new gas station opened up and sure enough, I get that happening to me at that place. So I avoid them but now a place by my house up in Dallas has new pumps and dang, it happened again. So its hit and miss as to what type of pump makes it happen.

Pumps may be a factor, however don't be surprised if it gets more prevalent if your tank vent is marginal and on the verge of failing. My first occurrences happened awhile back at a station I rarely used, so I figured it was just their pumps. Eventually the issue progressed to every pump I regularly use, and every fill-up.
