Fluid Film is one of the best corrosion preventers I've used. I like it for my boats and JetSkis because it doesn't make the electrical tape unravel and become gooey. It also rinses off without too much effort if you want to work on the engine. The smell though, smells like dead sheep skin, because it kinda is.. lol. But it works excellent regardless.. :-)
As far as the bumper goes, it has gotten 4 collonite waxes since new, and I installed a hot water spigot on the outside of my house which I use with salt away to rinse the vehicles down both underside with a lawn sprinkler and on top. The hot water helps bust through the slush buildup, and in general rinses better however will still obviously freeze if it's crazy cold out..
My point is, while I didn't go nuts with it I think the bumper got enough treatment within the period of 2 years not to flake and rust the way it did. My truck has MOPAR chrome sidesteps and they held up over the course of 5 years with the same maintenance regiment. Also, being within the warranty period I think they should have at least given some sort of coupon code for some money off on something different, I understand the manufactures warranty clearly states about the finish, but still. And I think we can all agree that if you bought a screwdriver from Horrible freight, it's american snap on counterpart, while more expensive will hold up way better.. Same would hold true for this bumper, which is so straight from China that when new it smelled like it.. That's my fault however, and lesson learned, I am just writing this so others don't make the same mistake.,.
