The Battery and its related crap

So I had to replace my battery today because it developed a crack in it. Why the fuck did they not include a handle to remove this behemoth? First off you can barely get your hands underneath it and secondly its a fucking enigma trying to maneuver this thing around all the shit without it catching on a set of wires... or hose... or a clip. It took 15 minutes to just remove the damn thing. It took me 15 seconds to put in the new battery (that had a handle). A simple plastic handle would eliminate both of those problems.

Oh and why the hell did they include such shitty metal connectors. I had one break off on one end and also rust itself together at the other resulting in me having to cut a splice a new one in.

Ok rant off.

Jay, maybe you needed an old guy to help you. Mine came out without too much effort, I just grabbed it by the sides.

As far as the clamps they seem to be the same skinny steel type most of the imports have been running for years. I try to keep my battery terminals checked and clean as necessary. I've been a little slack with the Jeep, just a quick glance from time to time. I was surprised how much corrosion was hiding under the negative clamp and the copper coating took a pretty good hit.

Mine took me a few bit to pull but that is mostly cause I'm about 5'9" and my Jeep is sitting on about 3.5" of lift with 35's lol. My clamps were still clean.

A handle would have made it very simple.

I was replacing mine cause I went to goto work one morning and one of the caps blew off. Had to go buy a new battery and install it so I could get to work sweaty and an hour-and-a-half late.

Send a message via Yahoo to redneckjk

you got to remember all of the auto manufacturers build these things with parts from the lowest bidder. tires, wheels, batteries, and so forth. you got what they could build for the most profit for them.

My battery came out pretty easily just by grabbing the sides, but I am glad that I am now running Optima with handle.
