Angry Bestop soft top leaks

Had a Mopar top, leaked air & water. My Jeep dealer told me they were total junk & it isn't worth trying to get it to stop. So I threw it away & bought a Bestop Supertop. It leaks air like crazy above the windshield. Emailed Bestop about it, but they could care less. I never even got a response back from them. I've had 5 Jeeps before this JK & none of them had air leaks even close to this.

A quick search would have revealed Bestop stuff is pretty much crap.

Everybody has a photographic memory. Some people just have no film.

Isn't it Bestop who is making the OEM tops for the Wranglers?

To the OP, if you're continuining to have air and water leaks is there a possibility it could be a weather seal issue?

Sure my rig has seen the trail, but I wheel it like a soccer mom looking for a parking spot at Nordstroms.

My factory softtop went on this week and after a monsoon came through IL just the other day while driving, didn't leak at all. I was actually rather impressed. Granted, it's somewhat new, but, still. Sorry to hear you're having issues.

They sure do. I got an OEM top from the dealer and Bestop is all over the box.

They have been making them for quite a while.

If you look at the top of the windshield from the front of the Jeep, you can see that the top isn't seated down on the windshield frame. I've taken it completely apart twice, No luck. I was hoping Bestop would help me out, but again, No luck.

Are you out of warranty? If not, why didnt you get them to cover the repairs under warranty. Most of the people with air/water leaks have been able to get the dealer to replace the weatherstripping under warranty.

I bought the top used. That's why the Jeep dealer told me to just give it up. He said the metal header is a couple hundred bucks & that usually doesn't solve it and it could easily be $400 plus. Not being under warranty, I thought I might as well just get a new top.

The header weatherstrip is what most likely needed to be replaced so a new top probably wouldn't help anyways. My strips needed replacement and I know they have made several modifications to them over the years the JK has been on the market to resolve leaks.

I had the same exact problem. Got it fixed under warranty. Problem is that the header needed to be replaced. I am using the OEM soft top.

I agree with you. There is not a company out there that will produce perfect products 100% of the time. Shit happens and that's one of many reasons why companies have return policy's. If Bestop was complete shit that would not still be one of the top suppliers out there for Jeeps. I may be wrong but I would bet at least 60%-70% of their business is Jeep related.

07 JK 2/DR Sahara, 35" Wrangler kevlar, 10k Winch, Garvin Roof Rack, 3" Black Diamond, CatBack Exhaust, RR Gen-1 Snorkel, too much more to list

One of the things that annoys me with this is that Bestop hasn't even gotten back to me about it. Either they don't care or it's happening to so many of us that they just can't deal with it.

So far my experience with Bestop tops has been utter crap. Poorly designed products and customer service that is completely lacking the service part.
