Thumbs down Bestop Duster

That SOB is freaking hard to install when its to fucking short to begin with!

Then I did a search and saw a few other people having the same problems with putting on the duster. I saw one post where somebody put the duster in the dryer to warm up the fabric, so it could stretch.

I'm putting my duster in the dryer tomorrow morning as I said "fuck it" for trying to do it tonight.

Anybody else have this issue with putting on a Bestop Duster?

Put my new one on day before yesterday, it was a bitch to say the least, I got it on without heating it up, but it was a booger bear...I found that when putting it on, if you pull with one hand and push the plastic under the rail (basically lead it in), it works a little better. I had to take it off today to take my back seat out, but it was close to 80 here today so it wasn't so bad.

I wish they would make the straps that go around the roll bars a little longer so you have some room to get the strap through the buckle easier,,,

and I really, really wish bestop would come out with a small piece that zipped to the area behind the seats that would go up maybe 3 or so inches and strap to the roll bar, that would keep any water from maybe rolling into the cab if it collects on the cover (I'm not doing the wind jammer since I might as well keep the top on if I go that route and you have to take off your soft top brackets which is dumb to me).

I'm getting the ORH combo top. Word has it this is not an issue.

But since I ordered it in 2010, I'll have too get back to you in 2011 when it arrives .

The word is wrong on that one....

It is a bitch too but do-able, I put mine in the drier after talking to Bodyguy who also has the ORH. I actually dented the panel under where the plastic inserts go all the way along the passenger side fighting with it. That was before I learned the drier trick... it is still a bitch. Good news is that once it is on it is tighter than a ducks armpit.

Put mine on today...

Thanks, I like them better with the uppers off.... which is the point I guess.

back on topic, since we know that the BT and ORH dusters are a PITA has anyone ran the bestop extender that brings the wind jammer back to the rear of the front seats? Is it a POS?

never heard of it, is it to fix the wind jammer so it will fit since the back seats invade the back of the jeep? if so I was wondering how a wind jammer would work because I would have to tilt my seat straight up or slightly forward to get them in front of the roll bar for the wind jammer to work..

EDIT: Ok I looked it up, its a duster extension to extend the duster over the seat area to connect the wind jammer for you 4 door guys...that thing looks kinda funky, don't think I would run it...

I was thinking I could run the uppers on the front two doors and just the half lowers in the back....

The dryer worked!!!!

10 minutes on high and I was able to pop that bad boy on!

Funny story -
Wife walked in while i was putting the duster in the dryer and said "What the hell are you doing?"

I then said "What? Never seen anybody put car parts in a dryer before?" She shook her head and walked out

That would look pretty badass with the half door in the back and full dooor in the front. Very Scrambleresque

That's one of the reason I'm looking for the half doors. Still don't understand why dual tops is an option, but dual doors ain't.

I have no problem with the duster...in fact the duster is about the only part of the entire Bestop setup that is even worth a crap.

I can get my top on like this for a 4 door. Attach the driver's front door, and then the passenger rear door. Then move to the driver's side rear door, and then the passenger front door. Like an X. To stop the flapping against the soundbar, I wedged one of those swimming noodles under there, and no more flapping. That trick also keeps the water from collecting above the soundbar and sends it to the backseat area. Just pull the drain plugs for the summer and I'm set.

Just when they think they have all the answers, I go and change the question.
