Volunteered to deploy

So I volunteered to deploy in Jan to Al eudid or something like that.. thursday they told me my name got dropped because of another member that has more time on station,I asked if i talked to the member to see if I could have his spot but they said no, I was bummed but I let it go.

Today they tell me I got Augmentee COP duty...

that pissed me the the F off. I volunteer to deploy and they say no, but they trow me right in to do bull**** work for 16 hrs a day for the next 30 days.

Never volunteer for anything again.
this is why the military keeps loosing volunteers.

rant over.

Oh yah, I'm on nightshift...as usual...
Like I didn't do enough of this **** in korea.....

What exactly is "Augmentee COP duty"

I am sure it sucks from your rant and all..... Hope it works out for ya.

And the first rule (while in the service) has always been "don't volunteer for chit!" followed by "don't share foxhole with anyone braver than you are" and "tracers work both ways"... to name a few..

No good deed goes unpunished, brother.

It could be worse. You could have been one of those underground (pasty mole like people) nuke crews.

Al Udeid is a cush deployment...Starbucks and a Tony Roma's so folks will volunteer for that area to fill the deployment square. Hell the gym there is the size of a walmart. Also once that augmentee crap gets on an EPR it will follow you every assignment until you get the rank to get out of it.

I didn't get rid of that and UDM until I made Tech.

Crosstrain, plenty of jobs out there that are more "fun."

I did that Security guard stint at Qui Nhon Air Field in Nam for 5 months, little less boring when the mortars and rockets are falling. But there was a "Steam and Cream across the street from the gate. When you had a break you could always drop in for a massage and then go back to work. Hell of a war.....
