Id also say because the plastics dont effect wheeling or day to day performance so they just over look it

To be honest, I don't mind it. That is to say...I like it compared to what is on the market. Most vehicles out there use the cheapest, ugliest plastic. Mustang? GAwd! anything out there, unless you get into some expensive european or other expensive foriegn car the plastic is hedious, flimsy and cheap.

The Jeeps is not to bad in comparison. Just scratches easy which is a surprise being as how it is garunteed to get dirt inside

No I like the set up and the plastic isnt that bad just scratches like its butter, there are scratches all over my dash on the passenger side from god knows what probably my girlfriends ring when she grabs the handle to get in either way I could go w/o scratches all over everything. That being said im sure sometime next year or so im going to fiberglass or some other type of custom dash/console work or redo the plastic some how, line x possibly!?!?!

So are we back to the CJ being the last real jeep yet?

And then through sweat soaked eyes they look in yours and see scratches and. . . AC vents!!!!

I could handle not having AC (didnt for years, 3 of those being in Georgia) and think the simplicity and easy-to-spray-out-ness of the CJ dash is awesome, but I know my GF would never leave the house if I didnt have AC. Even with the top and doors off I can still crank the AC at stop lights and show up where Im going with minimal back sweat

Oh, as far as the plastic interior? meh, I dont care. Mines scratched up from hauling a few oversized boxes, my min-pin trying to see out the front windshield and my GF using the glovebox handle to climb in. Oh, and from the vandals that tried to steal my stereo. If it bothered me that bad Id go to AutoZone and get wunna those custom velure dash covers

nah nah nah nah nah nah, I made you eat your parents - E.Cartman

Could be just me, but one of the last things I am concerned about is the plastic interior and any scratches that may happen...

This is why they make the H3 at a higher price point, so you can have decent off road ability and a nice interior trim level.

I lifted the entire Jeep so nobody can see inside.

Really I think I only have one scratch inside and a dozen or so outside. Doesn't bother me at all. ... still concentrating on the performance / trail ready stuff. Oh and life ...

My center console and around the cup holders also got all scratched up in no time.

I painted all the cheap grey plastic white (basecoat/clearcoat) and then I painted all the smooth black plastic and gave it a layer of clearcoat. No more scratches and easy to clean.

My dogs seem to like the soft, easily scratched plastic. I think they can get better traction when they sink their paws into it. At least thats my observation. That cheap looking carbon fiber is really made out of coke bottles

yeah it's a shame they didn't offer as an option a button tuck suede or velour dash cover and perhaps even some matching color dingo balls hanging from the top windshield frame.........

My sig was lonely....I had to add something.

Yeah, yeah, I get it. These things are made for tough duty play, which is why I can't figure out why they didn't make the interior components tougher. I categorize this as the same beef with the paper thin sheet metal. I would have rather paid $1000 more in total for thicker gauge steel and a more friction resistant interior.

You would have paid much more than $1000.
