Zipper sucks

Major problem with my back window zipper. Never wants to install correctly, it seems to be misaligned at the left side where the window starts. Thus it zips up but is a pain to remove. Sometimes it won't remove. With all the rain we have been getting I have been taking down the top when the sun finally comes out. Do I take it into the dealership and have them replace the top (still have the warranty) or try something else. Any suggestions. Just wanted to know if anyone else has this problem?

Make sure it is clean and no vivible damage.
If it still does not work properly take it to your dealer.
We would replace it if it came to our dealer in AZ.

Mine started doing the same thing....but it was the rear window teeth...they had started to push out of the stiching. Brought it into the deal and they got me a new rear window.

I had a friend who had the top sie of the teeth go and they put in a new zipper onto his top.

If you lube the at least zippers once a month it'll help. After several FUBAR'd zippers on my CJ's figured it was better to keep em lubed. The jk rear is a PIA. I just roll mine up when the top is on.

When I install the rear window, I do it with the top loose( not pull down tight). I always install the rear window before the side windows. With a little slack in the top, you're not trying to stretch the rear window and zipper to fit the opening. I tore up the zipper in my TJ and had to replace the top. I tried this method and the window zips in easy. After it's installed, I pull the latches down tight, then install the side windows.

I sprayed WD40 on the teeth before I unzip them. After the second application, it really loosened things up and now it's working like it should.

The zipper/teeth were misaligned when I first unzipped it, which made for a helluva first time getting the rear window off.

I totally have the same problem. That and my lack of patience with everything has ensured my rear window still has not been put back in place for a week now, rain and shine. I've got some zipper lube I'm going to try when I decided to tackle it again.

hehehe. lube

If you know of a local dive shop (or archery shop) they have a wax for lubing zippers on dry suits and such.

My zipper has been stuck for probably 6 months. I tried it several times, wd40 and muscle and got nothing. So, i zip tied the sh*t out of it. Sucks, and looks like a$$,but functional. Well, by functional i mean, its together. doesnt zip or unzip. i just fold the top down and leave the rear window in place. It's sad. I didnt like the clips that lock it into place either, kept coming off. So i just dont keep anything valuable in the back anymore. because it fills with water. just pulled the drain plugs.

If you're still under warranty, you should get it replaced if it's that bad.

I placed white paint "dots" next to the ends on each half of the zipper when it was zipped up "correctly".
It is easy to get them misaligned and then zip it up that way. with the white dots you line those up and you know the zipper ends are good to go.

I also extended the zipper pulls by like 5 inches, who the retard was to make them that short needs to be slapped.

My zipper is the same way. SUCKS! Also, the dealership that I bought the jeep from closed... so who do I go to now to get the top replaced? It's an '08 but it's still under warranty.
