Doing a "cheap miata challenge" with some friends

Thought some of you guys would get a kick out of this. I'm still working on my vette. And i still have a Jeep and am playing with that on and off along with the rest of this.

But, a bunch of us decided we needed something cheap to build. And you can pick these mazda Miatas up for 500-2500 bucks. So we decided to do a challenge. $3,000.00 total budget. you have to buy and build your car. we are going to do a race day probably at summit racing's carfest. So there will be autox, drag racing, dyno pulls, and a few other things. we can do that all 1 day. And the 2nd and finale to the whole thing will be driving these cheap shitbox miatas 500 miles to the miatas at the gap event at the tail of the dragon.

If anyone wants to follow along or participate (still pleeeenty of time before any official events):

https://www.facebook.com/groups/516749665805971/

and i'm doing a series of videos on my youtube about it:

I heard that guys that drive “miatas”are all gay.
Not that it matters but I’m asking for a friend, is it true?

I saw the YouTube vid, but haven't watched yet. I'll be following there. Sounds like a lot of fun.

Pmedic, the question answers itself.

I had a slammed miata for a while that I bought for like $3600 with 57k original miles on it. Probably one of the most fun cars I've owned. There wasn't a median around that me and a buddy couldn't pick it up and throw it back on the road from..

I'm sure I'll buy another someday when I have room to store it. Good luck with the race man! Sounds like a blast.

I have a friend that used to have a Miata, great little car and lots of fun. On the web you can find all kinds of LS swaps in, but this one is more interesting:

Have fun with your build.

well.... I was a factory trained Mazda tech back in the day. The pre-production Miatas that I first trained on in 1989 were send back to Japan to get crushed.

If I were to build a Miata, there would be some fricken apexes and epitrochoids involved. Just sayin. Sadly, I'd loose, though because it would not be cheap.

Funny you should bring this up. The one guy doing the challenge is in fact gay. and he's looking for a car. He texts me last night and he's like "every single one i've looked at has had a straight white male owner. No hairdressers, no gay guys i can flirt with to get the price down, all straight white dudes"

I thought that was hilarious.
