BAD CLOCKSPRING - File Complaint with Safety Canada 1-800-333-0510

Hey guys,

I know there are a lot of people that have been having CLOCKSPRING problems. IE) your AIRBAG light turning on and off.

Please call 1-800-333-0510 to file your complaint. Some 2007 were given an extended warranty on this problem. 2008's were not included. I called Chrysler and they said that my vehicle is not included....basically not enough 2008 owners have complained yet. As soon as they have enough complaints they will probably increase the warranty coverage period to extend past just 2007 owners.

I have heard of some 2009 owners having the same problem.

Make sure you call and file your complaint so that we can get covered. This will also help you get reimbursed for any $$$ you have spent to repair the problem out of your own pocket.

Some of the people that had bad clocksprings on the 07's were reimbursed for the full amount of the repair. If they get enough complaints then I am sure they will widen it and extend the warranties to the 08's and you will get your money back

Had mine replaced by the dealership on my 2010.. but I'm still under the original (60,000KM) warranty. My service guy said that there have been quite a few vehicles that have had warranties extended on clocksprings. From the way he explained it, Chrysler has given the dealerships permission to replace clocksprings on most newer vehicles, even if the original manufacturers warranty is expired. At the very least, they are acknowledging the problem. (That being said, I have nothing in writing, so good luck to me when it goes again if my warranty is expired).

What are the symptoms of a bad clock Spring?

My 2008 JKU cruise illuminated on the dask on and off and I am not pushing the cruise button, it just turns on and off by itself.

Plus cruise On don't work sometimes.

No problems with my air bag light or horn.

Just wondering if clock Spring can cause problems with Just the cruise.

From what you just described you have a clockspring problem. Search the JKO archives. I believe there's a good video that shows how to replace it. Not hard to do at all. Also look for JK clockspring repair on youtube. Search JK clockspring on Ebay or Amazon to buy a new one. Jeep Dealer will fuck you with a smile to replace.
