What do the details of the recall state for turning on the transmission over temperature message? Does that state potential fire hazard?

If you search through google, something like "site:jkowners.com Jk trans fire" or something it may show some previous threads.

Not in Canada but my JK caught on fire when the tranny overheated. Luckily some friends reacted quickly and the fire was put out before it spread too bad. Chrysler fixed it under warranty. The recall for transmission hot oil was done but the chime never went off. After the tech investigated he found out the recall work was never done. Your insurance company should cover it but if they have an issue pull up the recall notice Chrysler recall and they shouldn't have an issue.

Read these 3 threads. There are other fire threads here, but I believe that all of these relate to the auto tranny over-heat issue....

Rod, OP's is an '11 so it would already have the "HOT OIL" warning indicator. Not sure if the recall info will help other than to prove Chrysler knows there is a problem they aren't solving.

Cmoto,

Hopefully Rod's story above and some of the others will help you. It's a known issue and like he said, so far all they have done in the US is added a warning message to the older ones.

More importantly, on what basis are they denying the claim?
