Mag caps WHILE hunting is ok. That's in the hunting regs. But for sport shooting? Nonsensical rule. As for hanguns I believe there is value to a restricted class, but once a person qualifies for it (no history of violent crimes), then how is a handgun inherently more dangerous than a long gun?

agree on the hunting mag caps. And I agree with the restricted class to, but once you qualify I think you should be able to shoot it wherever you want ie bring a handgun or AR out into the bush with you....i dont see any reason why thats any different from a non-res firearm. ( haha i just want an excuse to buy some cool restricted toys that I can actually use)

Agreed. Hand guns are fun, long guns are fun too. Bureaucrats somehow think handguns are more dangerous even though they are less accurate and have less range.

what makes them dangerous is not their capablity but rather the ability for the owner to conceal the gun and carry with them without others knowing.... then they are used at close range. it is not the gun that is dangerous rather it is people... a pistol is attractive to those who are not looking to hunt or farming.

Yes, but you don't help anyone by focusing on the pistol rather than the person. And it's not the legal gun owners that are a problem anyway. It's the criminals that don't obey ANY laws (gun laws, etc).

However I don't see our restricted laws getting changed anytime soon

It's still technically illegal to kill people, do you really think a criminal is really going to consider using an alternative weapon just because a handgun is illegal as well.

"uhh, I really want to kill some people but handguns are illegal, guess I'll have to use a stick"

or,

"i sure have alot of drugs to sell in this rough neighborhood, I sure wish it wasn't illegal for me to carry a handgun. Guess this letter opener will have to do."

^more or less my point. I like handguns. They are fun. But they are not more dangerous just because they are concealable. The risk is in having criminals armed and citizens not.
Plus we need castle laws.

Herpies is back

Yep...Stevie Herpies is back. Some social diseases just don't go away. We make them Prime Minister.

The leader of the official opposition is just as big a slease. Jackie the scum sucking bottom feeder when caught in a bawdy house naked with a prostitute said he didn't know it was a common bawdy house. This from a then city councilor, who at the time was living in subsidized housing when he and his then common law bag were making a combined income of over $150,000 a year. Real fine upstanding citizens.

The Canadian federal election is the latest example of how low politics has sunken in Canada. Lying media whores and whore mongers lead the country.

What is really sad...some Canadians think this state of affairs is something of which to be proud.

In Canada, honesty, integrity and the presence of an IQ are not the criterion to be a politician; or a voter evidently.

OH wow where to start with this. I'll skip over Jack as I think his party is so far out to lunch that he and the NDP will be nothing but pure entertainment for the next 4 years. And once Quebec wakes up, they'll return to being the left wing fringe they've always been.

Whore mongers and media whores? So you don't like politicians. I don't really blame you. But we need someone to run the country. And we could be a LOT worse off than having Harper do so. Could you imagine Iggy or Layton? Canada would turn even more socialist than it already is. Gas is already freaking expensive (although I take personal sanctification when I hear the prices in Vancouver and Toronto are almost exactly the same as the prices up here ). Imagine how much more so it would be if Iggy or Layton managed to implement their Cap and Trade (aka the Green Shift/Green Shaft). Thats just the NEP version 2.0. Look at what Obama is doing to the US... Now Harper looks like a saint.

Do I like everything Harper is doing? No not really. However if I had to choose between him or any other politician right now, I'd take him in a heart beat.

You're right... we should all have voted in the socialists. Then we could have shut down the oil sands and the 20 BILLION they send to Ottawa. Not to mention what they contribute to our economy. We'll give everything away for free, freeze credit card rates (because that won't make credit harder to get now will it). And we'll spend billions to let the provinces 'create' more daycare spaces. The Liberals have been promising a national daycare since 93. The same time they promised to scrap the GST. They then had 12 years to accomplish both... instead they spent 2 BILLION on a firearms registry that only has half the guns (at best) and hid all the documents about where the money went. And if that wasn't enough there was adscam. Yeah the Libs are ideal...

Give your head a shake. Harper isn't a saint... until you stand him up against Iggy and Layton. Then he might as well be Mother Fucking Theresa. Once he undoes all the shit the Libs have done over the last 12+ years (and the CPC will likely have a majority next time around as well), then feel free to vote him out. But he'll need at least that long to undo all the shit they've done.

While I agree with riptide on much of what he/she has to say, my point was that politics and politicians in Canada have sunk to the lowest levels ever. There is nothing to be proud of here.

The best thing to come out of the election was Iggy is gone. Just what were the Liberals thinking.

If anyone believes the politians in Canada will do anything about the price of oil in Canada (the largest exporter of oil and natural gas to the USA) they need to shake their heads violently. The OPEC boys do a better job of managing their countries than we do. But this is entirely a different issue.

Care you point out why you think politics and politicians have sunk so low?

From what I saw of her? Not really. But I'll be honest I didn't really follow a lot of the US election.
