Busted....Troppers got me this weekend.

7:30am, Saturday morning on my way to work and BUSTED in my Jeep!!!!

84 in a 60 on the Florida Turnpike in South Dade. Trooper is in an unmarked dark blue interceptor, I never saw him. Took my info and walked backed to his car.

I am a little pissed because I have one of the worst driving records in Florida from my reckless youth and I am really trying to get past it. A good buddy of mine is a trooper (17 year vet) so I am not that pissed since I will call him when I get to work and ask for a favor.

Trooper walks back to my Jeep and we start talking. Find out he is not just a trooper but the Captain (just my luck!!). After a 15 minute conversation about my driving record, local traffic and life as a Trooper Captain he changes my ticket to 68 in a 60. That was cool of him since 24 over the limit is not good.

Still called my Trooper buddy later that morning and he laughed. Told me that I was screwed and that he was not going to call the Captain about my ticket. Told me I was lucky he lowered my speed and that he must of been in a good mood. Lucky me....

Better he changed it to 68 in a 60. Then leaving it....less dinars. What about points on your license?

shoot, my Garmin recorded a 91MPH top speed comming back from the JKO event. Im sure it was somewhere going downhill with the wind at my back

And yes ,be happy he reduced it. I had a 94 in a 65 that ended up costing almost 1K when I was stationed in GA. That was fun paying off on E-3 Pay

68 in a 60 is 3 points, 84 in a 60 is 4 points.

Not sure if I will call the attorney or just elect for the 4 hour school.

I can see it now... Your honor, why can't you just make the ticket go away, the Capt. already lowered it from 84 in a 60 to 68 in a 60. Come on, what's 8 more mph...

Somehow I don't think that's a good statement.

What's interesting is in the comments field he wrote "Pace. Actual speed was 84"

That's so the judge can see he already cut you a break.

Probably better to do the school.

I have used "ticket clinic" before. Basically an attorney group that fights tickets. Got it off my record but had to buy my way out and pay "court costs" and the attorney fees.

About double the original ticket fine.

I use the same attorney every time. From speeding tickets to careless driving (from wrecking my stang on the highway with nobody around) .

$60 bucks and all I ever get is a letter from the guy that the case was dismissed. No way I'll ever just pay or do school. I'm sure my luck will run out eventually, but he's been three for three so far.

Don't really have that problem anymore. Over 70 and the jeep feels kinda funny compared to the stang.

Here in San Antonio you can request to be put on probation. You pay the ticket and if you do not get another infraction with in 60 days the ticket is not posted on your driving record.
