Rubicon - Buck Island Lake

I've done the Rubicon twice on a dirtbike years ago. Once the snow melts I was tossing the idea of doing a day trip to Buck Island Lake. How do-able is this for a day trip and what would the trail conditions be for an out and back?

Day tripping ...

Buck Island and back is a very doable day trip, when there's not much traffic. The early season, like after the snow melts, is generally pretty crowded. Then it takes much longer. Additionally the trail is in rough(-er) condition from the runoff.

I've gone in about mid-morning and come out by late afternoon, home in time for dinner. That was in early October when there wasn't anybody on the trail and the bigger holes had been filled in.

Perfect, just the information I was looking for. I plan on running it in late, Aug (after Jeepers Jamboree.)

Would love the company. I'll keep you posted...

I usually go solo for the main reason as I am not build up as many of folks on here so I don't want to hold anyone up.

Looking forward to this trip.

Awesome, Hogg. More the merrier!

On a side note, I hope in May to do the Barney Riley trail. I'll post up for that trip.

End of May Rubi would be interesting with the snow. If the Mrs. Has a job by then, I might be in on that. Keep me in the loop.
