Day Trip to the Hammers

I have been planning on coming out the Hammers for the Tin Benders Jambo / JKO run to meet you all. The problem is that my wife is knocked up and it looks like the little one might be coming early! Oh Sh!t!! My brother and I decided last weekend to do a day trip out at the hammers before I am locked down changing diapers! We had an awesome time out there!! We started off by running Big Johnson then Clawhammer and finally Aftershock. We only made it up about 3/4 the way up Aftershock. There are some damn big obstacles up there that my rig isn't ready for, YET! I though I would share the some picts with you guys! Sorry I won't be out at the JKO run to meet you all. I was looking forward to it. Enjoy!

Jeff

Big Johnson

Yeah...it got pretty hard core past this point. The trail snakes between the BFR's. We actually turned around at this point because it was late in the day and I didn't feel like replacing a broken axle in the dark. LOL! I'll try this trail again!

I am jealous of you Colorado boys also!! Your trails are serious out there! Plus if you break down, you are FAR from home!

It is like 5 miles from the main highway and about 30 or so miles to the first town.

Sometimes those spur of the moment rides are what gets me through till the next time I can get out (especially with a job schedule that always changes)...

Looks like it was a fun ride..nice pics

Hey Hundy,

The tires hooked up awesome! I ran about 8 PSI in each. No problems at all. We'll have to get a JKO run going once I am done with the baby duty. You're lucky this is your back yard!

Man... I hope this holds me over for a while. Probably not! LOL! It is great just to get out there and forget about all the day to day crap.

You definitely can't be scared of body damage at the hammers! LOL! I'll bring the ugly twin with me when we do go out there.

Hey Rubirobv,

I am building my rig up some more to run Sledge and Jack like you guys did. I love these trails! I have been there with my old TJ right before I bought this JK. Man...the long wheelbase is definitely a handful in the twisties but awesome on the hill climbs.

Totally agree. Sometimes I wonder what I'm doing with the JK but I'm having to much fun to ponder it. I'm gonna buildup the D44 and run some bigger tires. My 37s measured out to 35 1/2 " the day I ran Sledge. Hundy's rig impressed me with those 38s and the extra torque he gets from the SC. Definately have to check out aftershock.
