Georgia Trail Riders at Morris Mountain Jan 2009

Just got back from another good trip with the Georgia Trail Riders. Had a great time as usual. Most of the place was dry and made for some good riding, but there was a swampy area you had to cross to get to one side of the park. Some of the smaller Jeeps couldn't make it with out a tug boat so I got lots of cleaning to do.

Brian Millsap came out with his WERock comp buggy. What a machine! He did have some carnage that I had to help him repair to get back to camp. He busted a rear axle u-joint and the pieces must have caused the ball joints to separate and the rear wheel came off. We jacked the buggy up and set it back down on the wheel. Then we used a ratchet strap to hold it in place.

Carnage list included:

Busted front ring gear JK D30
3 cut tires
1 busted bead
a couple of bent tie rods
Busted ball joints and axle on comp buggy

That place looks like a blast. Mud, rocks, trees, carnage, comp buggies, stockers, TJ's, JK's, dogs. What a great time.

Did I mention...it looked cold...really cold...really damn cold!

Yes it was cold, damn cold. 11 degrees Friday morning and 13 Saturday. Very cold for Alabama standards. I had my camper, but I felt bad for the guys staying in tents. My dumb ass just had to take the top off too. I still haven't cleaned up.

Boy it was cold. I only stayed the day but according the Jeep it didnt get much past 32 all day. That may not be cold to some of you but here in the South that is something else. Yeah I thought I was crazy taking the front half doors off but Mike rolling around with no doors or top....

The guy in the black tubed comp buggy was the first pic that made me say "damn, that was cold". In a couple of the pics, you could almost SEE the coldness in the air (the one of the other buggy snatching the jeep thru the mud). Yea, to me...living in the south...anything below about 45 degrees, is cold, especially with no doors or top. The slightest breeze can cut right through you. Still looks like a lot of fun.

I know...No sympathy from the guys up north.
