Windshield frame nuts

Ok, so inside the windshield frame theirs either a nut welded to the frame or some kind of small threaded bracket back there for you to screw-in the bolts. I've managed to snap-off two of mine between putting-on and taking-off the front light bar for my now sold roof rack. The upper one on the driver's side snapped off when I was trying to screw-in a bolt (got that bolt out), and the inside bolt on the passenger front spun trying to remove the bolt (had to cut off the head of the bolt with a grinder).

Any of you guys who remove or fold-down your windshield, could you take a look and see if there's any access inside the frame to fix/replace these nuts?

Or if this happened to you and you fixed it, what did you do?

I'd like to put on a new light bar at some point, or at least windshield lights, and need to have working nuts.

Thanks for looking, I had the same result.

I think I'm going to pull the windshield tomorrow and take a look. I was re-reading the original thread on the cowl snorkel mod the pic when he had the windshield bracket off it looked like I could get to at least the front-mounted nut/bracket/whatever.

Maybe I'll even throw on some goggles and go for a ride that way.

At the worse if you can't access the back just use a nutsert.

Don't think a nutsert will work. Everything has to be flush for the bracket. Worst case is I just cut an access hole, weld in a new nut or bracket or whatever it is, then weld closed the hole and paint. I'd have already done this but my welding skills are rough and I'm worried about making a big mess. Will probably farm out the welding to someone with more experience.

I'm in the same boat, I had one of mine snap loose after re-installing my upright for my roof rack. Got it about almost tight and it gave way. now I'm stuck with a semi loose bolt that I'll have to cut if I want to take the rack off.
