Think there is a recall out there Russ. Granted the dealer will need to touch the jeep which always brings the suck.

Mine's been doing it for about 6 months now. I've been meaning to replace the clock spring. Last week I got a letter from Jeep stating that the warranty on the clock spring has been extended to 150,000 miles or 10 years. Now I can let the dealer pay for it.

Is that warranty for all year models, all I can find is that they extended it for 07 and 08 model years.test ride was a fail made to the end of my street and ding ding the light is on.Also it don't seem like my pro cal will reset back to stock it won't make the horn honk when I try to reset it.

I'm not sure what models are covered. My letter reads like this:

"This letter is to inform you that the warranty period (3 years or 36,000 miles) on your Wrangler's clockspring has been exteded to 10 years or 150,000 miles, whichever occurs first. This extended clockspring warranty coverage applies to select model year 2007 Wranglers.

We are extending the warranty period on your clockspring because some of the affected vehicle population may experience an airbag lamp illumintation caused by a sterring column clockspring issue. If your vehicle is operating properly, there is nothing you are required to do.

Blah, blah, blah....."

So, it's not officially a recall. If it ain't broke you don't get a new one. I'm not sure why it would only be 2007 models though. Does anybody really think the changed to a different clockspring?

I would check w Lucas-might be able to help u out. Might be an accounting trick to not extend it for other years just yet.

Subscribed. My wife's RHD 08 air bag light has been going off for 3 months now. I found this on Motortrend's website.

http://wot.motortrend.com/recall-533...ht-132757.html

We haven't gotten a letter or anything from Jeep yet. How long does this usually take?

I would say get it fixed if it needs it and if the recall or tsb does end up including the 09 then you can get them to send you a check for the money you spent before it included your's.

So, I had my fixed. I was the clock spring. Here's how everything went down....

I must say that it was an great experience.

First off, here's the number: 800-763-8422

Call this # and explain whats going on. You will get a case # and a case manager assigned to you.

They will require that you take it to the dealer and have a diagnostic service done. This will be 100 bucks out of your pocket.

The dealer then talked to my case manager and agreed that it was the clock springs.

Then I talked to the case manager and we agreed that Jeep will cover everything but 100 bucks. I thought this was awesome!!

I had the repair done. The repair + diagnostic was $518.

Next the case manager sent me a link where I would scan in and upload my receipts. I did this and about 10 days later I had a check for $418.

It was a pretty good experience!

I've had 2 done under warrantee (so far) on my '09. I am SO glad that I got the '09 for the "lifetime" and I also purchased the CarMax.

From day one I have fully intended on handing it down to my son in the year 2020 for his 16th b-day.

08 is a recall L37
07 is a tsb and extended warranty TSB=08-067-11

when you go to your dealer and they run the VIN to write up a vip report this info should be right there on the report
