JKU Springs

Are the springs in the JKU all the same? Rubi vs Sahara vs X, etc

I was thinking about a low budget change in the springs in my 2 door Rubi with 4 door.

Any advice?

There are probably 10 different spring rates. You just have to look at the part numbers on the springs....high the number, higher the spring rate.

And you can't always just assume the springs off a Rubi are going to be taller. I bought some springs off a Rubi only to find they were shorter than the springs on my X. Gotta look at the part number.

X2! Did the same thing. Bought some of CL and went to install them while I was putting in my bb and found that the front ones were smaller then the ones I had and the rear ones were taller. The only thing I could think of was that they came off a 2d.

JKU Springs Update: My data

I did the swap of springs from my JK Rubi to JKU Rubicon Springs

Here is the DATA as measured by me. Same spot in garage, same tires, same payload weight in the jeep, same tape measure. Same idiot measuring.

Fender measurements are at the spot on the fender corresponding with the center of the wheel 90 degrees to the ground (I used a plumb line). The rock rail (RR) measurements are at the center of the door. Bumper height is measured at the front LEFT corner of my Rugged Ridge XHD stubby.

I swapped my front OE xxxx-14 springs for xxxx-18 springs; rear OE xxxx-56 for xxxx-59. You can see the difference in the front and rears in the photos below.

Interestingly enough, the right side of the vehicle sits 0.5" lower than the left. Could this be the weight of the fuel tank?

The stock Jeep one that end in 19 and 60 will give a 2dr 1-2" of lift depending on your set up and they go right in easily. There also pretty cheap if you shop correctly.

I did it and added a Tera flex leveling kit gained 3". No drive shaft problems and I'm on 35's just added a set of Flat fenders. It's a cheap lift that works for a DD and trails. I also put a set of JKU Rubi shocks on but will get Bilstein soon.

2dX to JKU Rubi Springs/Shocks

I swapped my stock 2 Dr X springs and shocks out with a 4dr Rubi "towing package"... Don't recall exact part numbers. Ended up with about a 1.75 in. lift, better ride and now my lights don't shine the tree tops when I load down for a camping trip. Really happy with this "cheap" lift.

Second the note that the right side is lower. Right rear is about 3/4 in lower than other corners... Don't notice it if you aren't looking but it drives me nuts!

I don't know this for a fact,but Ive been told that Rubicon shocks are made by Bilstein.If thats the case might not be any improvement.

They are not. They are made by Tenneco, the manufacturer of Monroe and Rancho, among others.

Over time..the weight of the fuel tank will sag the right side slightly...Just swap the springs side to side when you see this happen.

And yes...higher the number on the springs the stiffer the springs..because of option's...like..Hardtop, full doors, 32" tires.
