If I put an LS9 (ZR1 motor) in the Corvette, I'll have an LS2 with 40k on it for sale in a couple of months. Hadn't considered listing it here, but if people want to do conversions the LS2 would be a hell of a lot of power in a JK.

Todd - couple questions on the GM kits from a DIY perspective.

1. Will they be as comprehensive as your HEMI kits?

2. How will the price compare to the HEMI kit?

3. Any loss of functionality (factory gauges, AC, etc...)?

4. Is the install any more complex or difficult vs. the HEMI?

If I can ever find a deal on a wreaked 2 dr I am so doing this in it.

My 4dr is getting the ripp treatment and since it is more of a daily driver I rather keep it more mild.

But love that you guys keep providing more options to us JK owners!

#1 The LS engine is a lot like the Hemi, so we are going to use a lot of the Hemi kit parts we build
#2 It will be cheaper to put a LS in.
#3 We will have the dash work, cruse, AC.
#4 I think the install will be easier and we are going to start the install next week on are GuineaPig to show the install, we are also going to need some in put from you guys.
Like what engine, trans, exhaust and we are going to do this Cal. emissions legal

I was under the impression that the engine had to be the same year or newer, & built by the same manufacturer to be registered in CA. (i.e. Chrysler made) Maybe I'm missing something.

OK, the same year or newer, the same class (light duty)no heavy duty truck engines, the Jeep has to be out of emissions warranty. That is in California other states might be different.
We have been putting Chevrolet engines in Jeeps sense the early eighties and doing it all Emissions legal, the new fad is the Hemi, so we have been putting Hemi engines in sense 2004.
So we are just going back to are roots, we think we have the Hemi thing worked out, so it is time to move over to the Chevrolet engine.
We are going to need a lot of help, with what engine every one wants to use and trans.

What is everyone running in the TJ's for manual trannies, wouldn't that work? I know I want a LS based engine in my JK, but I don't want it if it has to have an auto tranny. And Hemi's are just too expensive. Also where I currently live does not have inspections or emissions test.

you could run a NV3550 out of a newer TJ or LJ, Novak makes an adapter for either an AX15 (later YJ's and TJ's up to 1999) or a NV3550 (2000-2004 TJ), but IMO running a AX15 is just asking for trouble, they arent as beefy as the NV3550's. I'm sure eventually Novak or Advanced adapters will end up making a bellhousing for the NSG370 TJ/JK 6 speed.

I think we can get a lot of different engine combos to work, we are finishing up the wiring harnesses (New and Used).
We are going to start the conversion soon and have it on JKO, using are Jeep JK GuineaPig that has a 5.7L Truck Hemi in it now.
We want all of the stuff on the LS like a York air comp, Shower, Premier Power welder.

LS in a JK

We are starting mock up for are kit, here are some trans numbers.
4L65 and 6L80 are 27 and a 1/4 inches long.
4L80 is about 28 and 3/4 inches long. I think this trans will be a little harder to use, but it can work.
