Snow Blowers?

Hello everyone, I had a quick question. As weather is starting to suck here in Chicago I have decided that its time to finally break down and buy a snow blower. I've never owned one so I dont really know much about them. Anyone out there have any personal favorites or could point me in the right direction as to what I should be looking for? I dont have a huge property but enough to not what to shovel any more. Its 125Lx50W with 4 foot deep side walks and then the alley by the garage. Any advice would really be appreciated. Thanks

Buy anything that is american made and steel. Poly chutes are ok if you dont blow on gravel but can shatter if you put rocks through them in the freezing cold.

Might want to look at about a 30" wide or better buut make sure you can get it through your gates if you need too.

my 2 cents

Make sure you get a dual stage, the single stage work for a dusting/1" of snow, other than that you're outta luck IMO unless it's really fluffy snow.

I have a John Deere 24" and I think it is more than enough for what you want to do, it'll almost shoot snow as high as my roof(30ft high) if I aim it the right way, haha.

Nope. The JK is my daily driver. I dont want to put any more un-needed stress on it. Plus it wouldnt do me any good. Im talking about side walks not something I would use a plow for.

I have a Troy-bilt two stage with electric start and tracks for a gravel and couldn't be happier. The only time I had an issue with snow removal was 8 in that turned to slush till I got home from work, it wasn't pretty but I don't think any snow thrower would have handled it better.
