If they offered a 6 speed stick in 2wd I'd buy one of those and put an atlas and Dana 60's under it for less than the cost of a Rubi! (ok... maybe not less but it's possible to be less.) $2.5 for an atlas and $10K for Dana 60's I could get am X for 18 easy and that would be less than Rubi sticker.

Didn't realize no Stick in the 2wd. Maybe you could find someone to trade out. There are alot of autotrans junkies.

Right now it's probably not too difficult to get an 4wd X for $18k and that you can get in a 6 speed.

I figure that most people buying a 2wd wrangler are doing so because of cost (some probably for mileage(WTF?... It's a Jeep!)) and why would you not put a cheaper tranny in a 2wd?.... ![]() Also if it is true, a 2wd would be $2-4K less. I don't think I could get $2-4K out of a stock Dana 30 and a Jeep T-case...

I would think it is purely a marketing issue. 1st there would not be many 2wd Jeeps sold to begin with. 2nd someone who is buying a 2wd Jeep is buying it for the "look" only. That type of person would be unlikely to want a manual transmission. The person who would want to buy it for a build up, such as you, would be extremely rare. You can't sucessfully market something to such a small segment.

So Nate, when are you getting your jk? I checked at the place I bought mine and they never sold a 2wd jk.Some of the salesman there didn't even know they made them.Might be a bit hard to find one here in Oregon.

I don't know about the 09 model, but I had an unlimited JK that was 2wd with a 6 sd and I ended up trading it for a 2wd unlimited with an auto. I live in N. Texas and can go just about anywhere any 4 wd can go. I hope to one day get a conversion to 4wd for no other reason than to stop all the comments about how I don't have a real Jeep.

There is a 6 speed manual JK 4dr avail in 2wd! We have had some used ones come through but the management is uneasy ordering 2wd jeeps for stock only if a customer really has to have one.

... or you could just do like I did and get your 6spd Rubi for $23,400 and change.
Now, I just gotta figure out how to get them to deliver the thing!

I agree if your a new jeeper then its best to start with a 4wd and then learn what you need as you go.
For me, I need a 2wd 4dr stick for my next project unless I figure out a way to install a 2.8 Crd from europe which will cost alot more! I think a diesel manual would have a huge cool factor. Jason
