Michael's FREE de-flendering or flattie JK

So today I worked on my de-flendering project. I just finished up and figured I'd post up pics to see what everyone thinks. Best part about this mod, it was free. And I think it really improved the over all look. But give me your two bits.

First off the completely naked JK. Well at least without any fenders at all.

Doesn't look too bad but in the spirit of the daily driver I figured some sort of fender was in order. So I broke out the jig saw and did this.

This is what I removed.

I still need to put the wheel well liner back in (or not) but I have painted the inside of the wheel wells flat black and for the most part I am done.

Best part, total cost, $0.00.

You betcha! Now I am shopping for 37's. I'll mount the 35's on the factory wheels for the daily drive and run 37's for trail.

So when is your turn?

Michael,

What's up with three antennas? Better reception or 3 radios?

Looks cool Michael! I would put the liners back in under the flares though. Just my 2 cents.

3 Radios, CB 2 meter radio scanner (reality radio).

I have the liners still just haven't got around to putting them on. Seems to run cooler without them. Plus I'm not dumping additional heat down the tranny well. But it has been suggested more than once to put them back on. Thanks!

Michael,

Newbie question #1: what's in the potato sack hanging off your spare tire while you were out running the Rubicon?

Newbie request #2: can we get some shots of your interior? I saw a partial shot a while back and I thought I saw some cool storage unit(s) in your rig...?

That is my trash sack. Easy and convenient place to keep the trash. When I get home I turn it inside out over the waste barrel.

I had the Tuffy storage drawer in the back for a while. Although it was initially nice, I think I carry too much stuff and it rattled and shook so much I ended up taking it out.

Thanks Michael. When are you coming back to SoCal? My schedule is crazy busy, but with enough lead time, I'd love to organize a weekend run...

Sweet! I like the no flares look but with the little (sounds wierd saying that) tires it looks goofy. With some larger meats to fill up the open are I think it would look awesome.

I also like the flat fender look but there is still too much flare IMO, I would trim it back so it's not as wide. Atleast half.

I will probably be down in L.A. a couple weeks but for a quickie to pick up my trailer. I'll be down again in Santa Barbara for Thanksgiving but I'm not sure for how long. Other than that don't have much plans.

Thanks Weasel, I'd like to have some toobies that could fold out to cover the entire tire for CA and Utah. Even with as stubby as these are you can see in my Rubicon video where I would have take it off if it was rigid.
