12,000 miles through the USA, Canada, Belgium, France and Spain has been an amazing preamble. Now it's time for AFRICA.

Hi All,

I've moving through Morocco,

I spent time at the ruins of Volubilis, and then the Fes Market.

Lots of photos and my thoughts on my site: Fes Market | The road chose me

Now I'm heading up into the Atlas Mountains. I'm absolutely loving Morocco so far!

i only visited morocco for one day about 12 years ago, but fes market was my favorite memory. the skinned goat heads staring at you and the giant piles of saffron that would have a street value of about $1mm here in the USA. next time i'm bringing a trash bag and buying all of it! enjoy your journey!

Shit Dan, who hasn't driven through a mine field. I'm kidding. I'd still be cleaning shit out of my pants.

I've been following along on your site, as I'm sure many others are.

Haha, thanks!

Here's how it felt to drive through the minefield.

Definitely my most intense day behind the wheel of a vehicle - much more than The Death Road in Bolivia.

That would be some white knuckle driving. Hell I had the mouse gripped tight.

Glad you made it through.

I have driven into African country #3, Senegal!

And without a Carnet De Passage too, something many people have said is impossible.

I was thinking about this last night while I was mowing the lawn. Do you know the languages of these countries you are going to or do most speak English over there?

Actually, they are most French speaking countries. I don't think Spanish is a major language in Africa.

I'm learning French as fast as I can, it's the most widely spoken. A couple of countries on the West coast are Portuguese, none are Spanish.

I also learn a couple of words in the local African language (hi, thanks, yes) and it makes people extremely happy!
