Home-made camera mount for my JK

I posted a Wanted thread asking for those stick-on coaster things that you get with most GPS systems. They give you flat, smooth bit of dash to attach GPS units and things of that nature.

This is why.

I had an old suction-cup style mount base from a broken GPS, the head from an old broken tripod and an idea.

Voila!

This won't be much use if I try and slap one of my DSLR bodies and long lens on it, but it is fine for a small video camera, or an SLR body with a short, wide lens.

It's too late out right now, my video gadget doesn't do real well in low light, but I will post a sample video tomorrow.

Sample video. The mount is a success, the camera is a failure I need to get a camera with image stabilization.

Great idea!

I was thinking about this a while back, And decided that i am going to use a RAM ball mount on the windshield pillars. That should work good also, And i hope it gives you another option on the stability issue as it would be a positive connection instead of suction cups.

Phase 1 Complete. Sold JK
Phase 2 Complete. Bought a Tow Rig
Phase 3 on-hold. Buying a trail rig. Thinking a TJ or XJ

Try a software stabilizer. There are several programs out there that can post-process a video to stabilize it.
