either cut some of it off or just weld over top of it.

Yeah I will be welding right directly to the casting. I've bent/broke enough 60 housings to know I am not taking any of the casting away. I do have a 78-79 60 though, so I have more "room". I am having to bring the arms in as far as I can to clear the tires and not lose steering.

Looking good man! Lots of good info in here. Thanks!

Most people arent using the 78-79 because of rarity, but i think with that year model you shouldn't have to move the brackets out much... I welded to cast and think it should hold up fine, I've got a great thread saved on pirate about welding cast that should be a great go to....
If ya cut the perch make sure and truss it like Frankie and co4lo did.

As for updates its been a while . But finally got my steering linkage in from ruff stuff , also git me some 35spline 4340's from Yukon, as well as there hardcore lockouts..... The pitman arm is kicking my ass, because I'm a jack ass and should have removed it before drilling... I'm only half way done drilling it out so I may go ahead and remove it.

Also I need some help with track bar and and draglink geometry . I've decided against the high steer ... So question is does your trackbar, use the angle in which its bent or do you go from mount hole to mounting hole?

If it goes from mounting point to mounting I'm good, but if not ill probably be making my own track bar since the RK one is some what limiting .....

Yukon axles , just a tad large... Had to git them with a grinder to get them in.

Also had a fit with alignment bushing but finally went with 0* and got it squared away!!

Adjustable ones suck!!!!! Don't F with em!!!

Should have this piece of shit on its front wheels very soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Things to wrap it up will be driveshafts, hydro steering , brake kit for rear, and brake lines..... Then fabricating some fenders etc........

By the way huge shout out to Marcus at RCO , I literally ask him for prices twice a week!!! I owe you a beer bud!!! Ill be sporting his swag on this biatch fo sho!!!!!!

It's the angle front mounting point to mounting point... The drag link and track bar "should" be the same lengths.

FWIW, it's typically easier to grease the u-joints if they are installed with the joint flipped to face the other direction.

Are you doing tone rings on the front end?

You're supposed to cut a slice in it in the same direction as the splines. Then it pops right off.

Well it popped of rather easy with a removal tool. I finshed drilling it out for the rod ends. welded a washer to save my wallowing out and decide to not double shear. Steering links are drying and ill have them installed tomorrow. Ill post up pictures then!!

Same sh!t...another 1 ton build....

Steering is complete for now , need to order some hardware for the passenger side but all in all I think it should work well. Tie rod is straight with no rubbing . I haven't flexed it out yet to see whether or not it should bind but from the looks of it it shouldn't. But I've been fooled a lot.... Gonna pick up some brake pads today's put the wheels and tires on tomorrow. Then a month off from this thing....

Even a lil RCO swag on it

Also got my exhaust out , what have y'all guys been doing to mod your exhaust? I'm thinking about running true duals and ditching the y-pipe... Is that a good or bad idea?

This is the exact point I am at too. What to do with the exhaust...?

I am thinking about re-routing the passenger side behind the crossmember and above the skid.

I too would like to hear other ideas.

I actually took the section I cut out and moved it behind the transmission and in front /below the tcase and it looks like a good place. I've got to figure out what to do with the y pipe and run the driver side . Gotta find some exhaust scraps and clamps .

Here's what I had done. Not sure if it will work for you, but might give you some ideas.
This is looking at the crossmember on the passenger side.

This is the back of the crossmember.

This is the driver side, just under front output of t-case
