I was actually going to use a 99+ E350 Van HD60 rear. They are a gem.
They come with 35-spline axles, big bore spindles, 8 on 6.5 bolt pattern (not like the SuperDuty) big disc brakes, and have an ABS tone ring!! You can get them complete for around $500, so all you would need is gears, locker, and some brackets. This would be the most excellent choice for a JK 8-lug swap.

BUT......
I ended up with this, because I was lonely and needed a new BFF!

Lucky prick... Looks nice and a great idea!

In another note... What size wheels are on those jack stands? They look bad ass!

Nice, im ready to see this under your jeep. What year is the front out of? It looks very clean. Maybe a mid to late 80's ford.

Jon...could you...maybe for just a minute, take a break from the modding? You're making me exceedingly jealous.

What'd you do with the 44s?

It's a 1989 F350. It has some light surface rust, but they painted it to protect it from the elements. I still have to sandblast it and prep it for welding.
The only issue with this era (as opposed to the '78-79) is that the short tube is VERY short. But not a factor if you run coilovers.

For coil applications, most people just cut away the leaf spring casting up to the leaf spring pin keyhole and make more room for coil buckets. Works like a charm.

Yeah I plan on running coilovers with my super duty 60 because of the short tube. Well that's my excuse anyway. What's your plans for locker and gears?

FRONT:
5.38, ARB, 35-spline stubs, and maybe the stub hub conversion depending on the backspacing I use. Probably some Warn premium hubs, and keep some slugs in the toolbox.

REAR:
5.38, Detroit Locker, 35-Spline full floaters, Disc conversion, shaved diff.

No.
But I'm plotting a tone ring on the rear T-Case output with an adjustable sensor plate so that I can keep my speedo/odo functional. Not sure if/how it will work yet, but I'll figure something out.
I'm more concerned about the Odometer, since I can use GPS for speed.

Got the truss completely burned on last night. It's 3/16 DOM with brake-formed 1/4" plate gussets.
Since the casting on the 14B is offset, the truss is made to be symmetrical with the casting, but the center of the axle is still on the center of the truss.
The truss it rotated forward to accommodate the proper pinion angle for my application.

The D60 knuckles sandblasted...Good as new!

D60 ready for stripping...
