The "F*** it Bucket" build

So the time has finally come to put a build thread together. Thanks to many on here and many beer filled nights I've decided to say fuck it and build what I want with a lot of what I'm working with already. The plan is to have it done by EJS! Build plan goes as followed, open to any input and or advice as always.

-79 King pin 60 with BTF truss, Ruff Stuff cover, Reid knuckles, dual sheer steering with PSC hydro assist
-14 bolt with TMR shave, BTF truss, Ruff Stuff disc brake conversion, both axles will use Ruff Stuff brackets
-I will be using my RK 3 link kit front and rear, it's the 6" stretch one but it should be more than with the the mounts I'll be using. (Wheelbase tbd)
-Going with a fuel cell, not sure which yet. I've read good things about Carolina truggies
-12" ORI fronts so I don't have to move everything around in the engine bay (this could change) 16" ORIs out back
-I have the Poly cage but I will just be using the front A pilar and windshield bars and building the rest myself
-40" bias trepador with Trailready wheels
-Gonna do away with the abs and re route my brake lines down the upper arms and T at the axles
-I sure I'm missing a bunch but that's where I'm at right now

As I stated earlier I plan to have this done for EJS. I/we are working in very tight quarters in my buddies garage. This was the jeep last time I wheeled it.

Glad you started a thread. Interested to see the progress.

Did you clean up your buddies shop yet? It will make life much easier though.

The fuel cell part is easy, I run an RCI with a genright ring and the stock fuel sending unit. Works great and cost me no more than $500.

you are getting the maxxis STICKY trepadors right? Fuckers are great.

Working in tiny garages is fun.

Good to know I'll check them out, you still running the evap? They are the non comp bias ply. It makes it a little harder for sure but it can be done!

I am not running the evap, but installing it would be very simple. I may install it eventually.

It's a trail only rig, but from what I can tell the jeep runs just fine. I know I had 19 different CEL's (ABS stuff) before the cell, kinda interested to see now. The fuel gauge even works.

If you have not bought the treps yet, and it's going to be a trail only rig, seriously consider the stickies. It's such a great tire. That or some sticky krawlers, I wont run another tire.

It is trail rig, will only see street time when I feel like showing it off taking my girlfriend to dinner or stupid shit like that. I assume you did away with all the abs bullshit as well? What are you doing for a speedo/tac? I guess I could just ask if you have a build thread?

I already have the tires but I'll keep that in mind for next time!

I actually do have "working" abs and speedo, its a 2013 auto so I had to keep the transmission happy. Wont shift without at least 3 valid wheel speed signals, so I installed them all on the rear axle. I couldnt use the artec stuff to do it, my rear 14 bolt ended up being some ridiculous heavier 14 bolt, the tubes have been reported to have .7" thick walls and a few of the dimensions were different. The casting is thicker as well. Im waiting on someone to call bullshit on that, but they exist.

Nice, mine is a 10' 6spd I only need one to make all that work. At least that's what I've read haha. I'll definitely have to read through your thread.

Decided to 16" ORIs all around, at this point why not spend the extra time and move the shit around under the hood.

Mounted my wheels and tires, so of course I had to roll them up to the jeep. They are at 110" not sure if that's where I'll end up or not yet.

Oh hell no. Not gonna to cut it. You have to have more pics leading up to where you are. Lets back her up a bit, come on now.

So are doors in the plan? Is the top of the boatside at the height of the bottom of a door?

You should have just built a buggy and put the JK hood on it.Look likes that is all that is going to be left from the JK. That and the heavy dash and firewall. Kudos doing that extreme work in such a small space. The boat sides are bold the way you went up as far as you did. Will there be a replaceable bolt on slider down the 4x2 tube that will take the abuse?

I'll post up a couple more pics ina few. No plans for doors at the moment, top of the boat side is just below the lower door hindge.

Yes I should have, I beat myself up for a long time after I cut it. I had the step away for a bit, been extremely stressful. Almost scrapped it and just went with the buggy idea. It's not until it recently that I'm happy with my decision.

Yes there will be but that's not priority right now, boatsides needed to be in to being the tube work. They are 1/4" thick with 1/4" plate on the frame. The garage is small but we have just about everything we need and know where everything is. Will likely have to put it under a tent on the driveway when it comes time to flex it out.

Decided to go full hydro.

Copied this crossmember from a guy on here, it will suck to drop the tcase but this is the route I decided to go.

This was my first run at the calculator, weights and center of gravity are certain but it gives me a good idea of what I have going on. I have sense adjusted it to get the anti squat closer to 100%. I will have 10" vertical separation at the axle and 5-7" at the frame. I might shorten the lower links to get them closer to the same size as the upper to get the pinion happy during suspension travel.

Keep an eye on clearances for things like the transfer case in case you have to pull it out sometime. When I had to replace my clutch it was a pain in the ass because I did not take doing that into account when I designed the cross members. My current design lets me pull the transmission without douching any of the suspension or exhaust.

In the chart it looks like raising the frame lower would get your AS# higher, is that what you did? Is 118" wheelbase right?
