JK BR6 Heavy Duty Brake Components

(EDIT NOTE: To avoid confusion I want to point out that the BR6 13" brake components discussed in the first few pages of this thread ARE NOT the same as the Mopar Performance Big Brake Kit part number P5160051. This thread dates to before the Mopar BBK was released and discusses the 13" BR6 option offered on JKs in European and a few other overseas markets. The Mopar Big Brake Kit was released in 2015 and is essentially the calipers, rotors, front brake lines, master cylinder & booster from the miltary J8 pickup sold overseas. The only parts common to the BR6 option discussed here and the Mopar BBK are the rotors.)

For the sake of brevity, here are the part numbers for the JK's BR6 "Heavy Duty" (13.25") brakes sold in some export markets. One of our club members has been sleuthing this subject. We knew this stuff was out there but couldn't determine the part numbers that made up the option package. Here they are:

68040177AA - 13.25" Rotor
68044865AA - Caliper Adaptor
68044863AA - RH Caliper
68044862AA - LH Caliper
68044866AB - Pads
68049018AA - Pin kit
68045998AB - Master Cyl
68045999AB - Booster

The pads turned out to be Dodge Nitro OEM.

I rolled the entire cost on this up using moparpartsamerica.com and it came to $693.99. (Kick in the butt is the pads, $171.00 a set!) However, contrast this with the TF BBK with M/C and its about a $200 savings. Hope this helps any of you wanting to beef up your braking. I have had the TF kit on my '09 for three years and highly recommend it, but OEM and some savings are always a tempting alternative.

The issue is finding someone to distribute those parts.
The pins and pads are the only things anyone seems to be able to purchase here in the US.

This and I'd highly doubt it. I think the Tera brake kit is somewhere around a 13" rotor and won't clear anything less than 17s.

The calipers show as being for Liberty / Nitro on some sites. The rotors are available from Crown. IIRC the M/C is Liberty / Nitro as well.

Have you asked those sites about the availability of those parts?
If you get a "yes", definitely post who said it.

I don't need the MC or booster, but if you can find an availability for ALL the other parts, I'm ordering.

What I have figured out looking at various sites is that they FIT those vehicles, not that they are stock on them.

Mopar Parts America had every number active except the pads, which is odd because they're for the Nitro.

The M/C & booster appear to be std eqpt for 2012 & newer JK. Not sure you'd need the booster on an older rig.

That's correct. The standard brakes on all these models is the BRW and these are the Heavy Duty ones (BR6) tagged 'export' but with no indication to which planet they are supposed to be exported :-p

Just thought I'd update this one. One of our club members ordered the BR6 parts from an east coast dealer. After a week they came back and said no way, but she just got a shipping notification. Watch this space.

And we have a SCORE!!!! She just sent me an e-mail, she received the entire order of BR6 components, rotors, calipers, supports, etc. Soon as she gives me details on where she ordered the stuff I'll post, plus pix. This girls got some perseverance!

Got 'em! BR6 Brakes

While I would never suggest anyone *lie* to get parts, may I suggest that if you want the BR6 Brake setup, and you live on the North American Continent, that you only *wish* you had a Jeep Wrangler. What you actually have is either a 2010 Dodge Nitro, or a 2012 Liberty. Seems the HD Brakes aren't "Export Only" for those vehicles. Anyway...

After months of trying, loading online carts, and even paying, only to have my order cancelled, I finally succeeded in getting the HD BR6 brakes. Using the parts list assembled by Kacos (thank you) and many others, and with help from a Dealer in NC, here's what I ended up getting from Autopartsmopar.com (out of Texas):

68044865AA Adapter (Qty 2)
68049018AA Pin-Disc (Qty 2)
68040177AA Rotor (Qty 2)
68044862AA Caliper (Qty 1)
68044863AA Caliper (Qty 1)
68044866AC Pad Kit (Qty 1)
68091278AC Master Cylinder (Qty 1)

Had them shipped right here, to the good ol' US of A. Took about two weeks. I have 2008 Wrangler Sahara, and am running the AEV Pintlers with Duratrac 315/70s.

Some of your parts #'s are different from the first post. The master cyl is diff number. The pads were updated and have the C at the end.

Yes, the dealer I spoke with in NC said that some of the parts on my original list had been superceded by the 'new' versions. Haven't installed them yet (getting help from SoK66), but I'm taking her word for it that those are the ones.

Superceding is usually designated by the aa ab ac.... Hopefully it all works for ya and you didnt end up with the same mc as the one you have!

Ill run these by my mopar contact and see what he says since Im interested as well.

I made the assumption that since I already have the Booster on my '08, that I wouldn't need another with the new MC. Can your Mopar contact verify that too?

I'm no pro, but the calipers look much larger than my stock ones, and the Rotor is larger than stock, so I'd say highly unlikely they'd work in a 16" wheel. Somewhere there's a pic of them in a 17" wheel and it stuffs them pretty good.
