NEW - ROCK KRAWLER - HEAVY DUTY, DEEP SUMP, AUTO TRANNY PAN FOR JK's

Hey Guys

We are working on a Heavy Duty, Deep Sump, Auto Tranny Pan with Pick Up Relocation Kit for JK Owner's with the stock automatic trannsmission. The pan will hold an extra 2+ quarts of tranny fluid, the sides are made from 3/16" thick steel and the bottom is made from 1/4" thick laser cut steel. We have also incorporated a drain plug for ease of service. The retail of the kit will be someplace between $249 and $279 hopefully.

No longer will JK Owners have to worry about loosing drive as your JK goes vertical, nor will you have to worry about crushing in the bottom of your auto tranny pan and damaging your valve body...

For reference, it does not hang down below the factory cross member or exhaust routing.

But... I already have full skids... How about making a kit available with just the higher capacity and relocated sump?

We were going to come out with a skid plate package, but last year in testing on extreme verticals we lost drive a few times and also noticed the oil pump sucked dry so we decided to start taking this approach. We will offer the deap sump auto tranny pan and in our future we might start working on a deep sump oil pan with windage tray that can also be used as a skid so the motor will not run dry at crazy angles...

Is that something you guys would like to see?

I second the provision for a temp sensor. Also, any thought to making that drain plug a little lower? Seems like there is going to be quite a bit of fluid left in the pan even with the plug out. Looks great, more capacity is always a good thing as it will also help to lower operating temps.

Nice Pan.

Will we have to worry about the driveshaft hitting the pan at full flex? A provision for an oil temp sensor would be great.

it is something i would like to see you come out with. how long for the trans pan to be in production? i would love to get rid of my stock skid plate. i assume this will provide equal or better protection?

I agree, adding a bung for a temp. sensor would be nice. Other than that, I wouldn't change anything. At first, I thought the drain plug was a little to high as well, but if your changing the filter when you service the tranny, your gonna have to drop the pan, and the plug is low enough that you'll drain most of the oil out and avoid making a big mess. And I would also like to see your version of a heavy duty engine oil pan.

You guys are right, we are using a magnetic drain plug. My bad.

We certainly would concider offering custom made units with temp sensors for people who want to put them in! We believe if you tap into your ECU you will find an active temperature sensor already for the tranny just like guys do with their diesel programmers.

We are waiting on our machined plastic pick up tubes. Once we have them, we will get you guys some installed pics.

oh yeah I'd definitely be in... I wanted skid plate set but this and a heavy duty oil pan and I'd be good. The skids would just be another place that would fill with mud for me

Very nice. I can attest to the fact that it's no fun when you loose tranny bite. You gotta be pretty steep to begin with and sucks when you loose drive.

Does this work with normal skids or do we just toss them?
