If you look at the other kits, there appears to be a little more parts with this one, like the vent cover. So I'm betting a bit more. +$200 is my bet.

EVERYTHING for a JK is more than the others. sigh.

I also question the passenger side. With no hinge, and no latch how tight does it fit? If you look at the others, there is a little latch on the outside, yet the JK one is missing this.

Dropdown tailgate kit released.

Just found these on http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=819454

Obviously need a tire carrier and if you read the whole thread on jeepforum, it looks pretty stout....

Great idea! I'd like to see a latch on both sides and a little bigger hinges and bigger bolts. Those screws/bolts look like they would rip right out. I may be wrong. It may be a great product in person. Just seems wimpy in the pics shown. IMO.

Too bad they couldn't make it like old station wagons and it can open either sideways or down ...

Pretty interesting, like the sitting area, think if someone installed some cornerguard hiding the old hinge indentation that'd be cool along with some kind of panel over the tailgate original hinge location.

Very nice, I like the lower40 tailgate better with the old school Cj logo and the door hinges being used. Overall very simular hardware that my CJ-7 tailgate is one of the best mods I have done to my jeep.

I like the jeep plate, but it doesn't seem like a good trade off for not running a spare (swing away). Only really seems good for is sitting on, can't load much. Cool idea though

Ok guys....I had been following the thread over there too.

The gate will only latch on the left side. Does anyone here feel there will be needed latch support on the right vs. no latch on the right at all? Seems like my gate has quite a bit of pressure when closing all the way snug to the hard top window? Guess if you are not running a HT it might not matter that much....

I know it is not as wide or large as a pick up tail gate, but never seen any other tail gate only latch on one side?

Also, I think they need to can the jeep thing in the back and just make a black plate...

just my .02
