Thumbs up hypertech tunner

their are few rocks to crawl in memphis, but there is hypertech. just installed the tunning on my 08 jk, works great. i am one of the bata testers (lucky me). my jk has a 3" full traction lift with 35" xtreme m/t's, a 6 speed, and 3.73 gears. the added torque has really helped with the sluggish feel when taking off and at highway speeds 6th gear is now completely useable. will give update as time goes along.

any other info? dyno charts? how far you can adjust fuel curves assuming thats what you mean by "tunner" or is it preset tunes you load on the Jeeo computer?

It'd be nice if Hypertech would test one of these somewhere with altitude, like here in Colorado. We wheel at 5000 - 13000 ft. and that really sucks up the HP. I would sure like to see how the programmer works under our conditions. If it works well, I'll bet you could really feel the difference on the Seat Of The Pants Dyno at this altitude.

I have two of the beta test programmers also. I can definately notice the increase in power, but it is only about 15 hp. The real benifit is it enables you to adjust for different tires size and gear ratio.

How's the MPG? I don't really need more power, I need more MPG

Does anyone know when the new tuner will be out? I am considering either a JET or wait for the Hypertech.

I dont know if it is any better, I am going off of the onboard MPG display but it was off before from the tire and gears. I have a 4 dr auto with 3" lift and 35" tires and 5.13 gears and am getting mid 12 mpg with the tuner and corrected tire and gears. I dont know if it will help with the mpgs, about all you can do for that is keep it stock.

x2. I'm interested to know if the Hypertech Tuner can actually improve MPG. I'm running 285/70R/17 (almost 33") tires w/ 4.10 gears and currently averaging 16mpg (87 octane fuel). Not bad I know but am curious to see if the tuner can help get it up to 17-17.5mpg. Side note: I do drive like Ms. Daisy, but with a slightly heavier right foot.

That is not very good. I get 15-16 mpg around town, 17-19 on the highway, 37's, 4.88's and no programmer.

Most probably

Although I've found I get better mpg on the highway at 70 than I do at 60, and better at 60 than 50. Most probably due to being further into the power band, which starts around 2200 rpm.

Stock Rubi, except for a Flowmaster Delta 50 muffler. Just turned over 2K miles. Most of my driving is done at freeway speed (cc at 65.) Today, I filled up and did the math. 20.22 mpg average for work week mileage. On the weekends, my milage off road has been between 14 and 16 mpg. I have been considering getting the Hypertech to see if I can goose my performance a little bit, or maybe an enclosed CAI. I am pretty happy with the way it is right now, though. Who would have thought that a muffler could make such a difference.
