I agree with Curbs. Can get all types of mounts and holders and trade them out as need be. Ram mount rules

I absolutely love the set up I put together for my Droid 3

since I have the base model Sport, I didn't get the mygig or any stereo half worth a damn.

So I had to figure something out for my music needs without having to struggle with the darn phone in the cup holder and aux cable mess, plus it'd be nice to have quick access to google maps.

I got the standard Motorola windshield dock for it and got an extra, extra long AUX cable. I ran the AUX cable inside the dash over to the headunit and I wired in a new AUX port onto the back of the headunit and plugged the cable in there, now I have my music, AND a make shift hands free calling function.

This dock also has a charging function which I plan to integrate into the Jeep eventually as well.

2011 JK, made the year before we all die, warranty be damned.

I use a cupholder mount that I got through Amazon... you can see it in this pic sticking up from between the seats:

HOWEVER, since my wife recently upgraded her phone, I wiped/ rooted/ loaded a custom ROM on her old Droid I & have been thinking about turning it into an entertainment device & mounting it in the Jeep. Of course, I'll have to see about integrating it into the new radio as well:

Looks very similar to the Verizon HTC Thunderbolt dock I am presently using

This is what I use. It's called a portagrip 2000. It has a suction cup option but I still ended up using clear silicone with the suction cup since it didn't stay stuck. I've got a automatic so I don't use the ebrake very often but I can swivel it out of the way If I need the ebrake. I've got the iPod interface cable running under the center council and the cable comes out about half way down the ebrake handle (if that makes sense) it works pretty nice.

I ordered one of these because I'm sick of always buying new mounts for $30+ a pop every year. Just arrived today. After a highly technical shake test, it holds the phone very well. So well that I'll attach it to my motorcycle and give it a whirl as well.

I'd love to see the template. I've been thinking about making one too and pairing it with the Bracketron Universal holder. http://www.quadratec.com/products/17017_004.htm

The lines are where the bracket is bent.

I can email a PDF of the template if anyone is interested, too. Then you should be able to just print and cut it out.

Sorry, I had to use the phone to take the picture so it's not in the mount. You can see the aux cable and I can run a charging cable up to it also.
