What gun do you carry when backpacking and camping?

I know we all live in different regions of the country so the type of gun and caliber will vary on here. I usualy carry a 357 mag with a 4in barrel when camping and hiking. If i was to run into a bear I might feel a little under gunned even w hot 357 loads. What do you carry and pics are always a plus!

Do you use it as a gun or a club?

Yes, but there's just something about him. Something around the eyes, I don't know, reminds me of... me. No. I'm sure of it, I hate him.

I got a S&W 500(same size as 460) with the 8 3/8 barrel. Thought I'd pack it more than I do. The size and weight make it not so "pack friendly" when hiking. Was thinking about a Ruger Alaskan in 454 or 44 mag. For now my 357 goes with me when alot of walking is involved.

S&W 500 (50 cal hand cannon)

Over-under 12ga and a pistol. Shotgun loads and pistol caliber depend on time of year(spring time fishing in bear country bring out the heavy stuff).

Rest In Peace Guinness. You will never be forgotten. My brother and my best friend

I carry my Beretta .40 with 31 rounds of hydrashock (3 clips and 1 in the tube, there is always 1 in the tube) and my 12 ga FN Tactical Police Shotgun with 17 3" magnum slugs. You never can tell when you might stumble upon something that would look great on a wall and in your freezer, or in a shallow hole for that matter.

I carry an AR-7 for backpacking. For day hikes pretty much any old handcannon will do.

My Kimber .45 is my all time favorite. Sometimes I have a few with me, depending on my mood.
