JK Gun Rack

Any recommendations? Haven't done a whole lot of looking, but with packs of stray canines and feral hogs at the ranch, I have to keep a rifle in the Jeep most of the time.

These are a good start. Dont know if you want something that will secure the rifle to the rack, but have a look.

You can't be a real country unless you have a beer and an airline. It helps if you have some kind of a football team, or some nuclear weapons, but at the very least you need a beer - Frank Zappa

Anybody used this one? Not really a rack, but looks like it would hold rifle safely.

I'm not sure what kind of gun you are trying to carry, but I have an 07 4 door jk and I took a sawed off shotgun and with the help of 2 velcrow straps, it sits firmly in place on the rear cross bar. (out of sight)

This is the rack I have in my work vehicle. I can't remember the name off hand but it works well for me. I takes to rifles and is adjustable but has no locking mechanism. I'm sure someone could figure out a way to secure the rifles though.

Call PIG @ PolyPerformance & bug him. We were just talking smack about how he needed a gun-rack option for his bolt in JK racks.

I know this is an old thread but I thought I would throw out what I use during hunting season. Just a saddle scabber strapped to the roll bars.

Wow thats cool until you hit the brakes too hard, have it fly forward, slam into the windshield and shoot you in the face...

Yes, but there's just something about him. Something around the eyes, I don't know, reminds me of... me. No. I'm sure of it, I hate him.

It has a strap over the bolt to hold it in place, though I did not use the strap for this picture.

Found this idea over at eddies place

http://jk-forum.com/showthread.php?t=64762

basically a piece of 4" pvc clamped to the roll cage over the drivers left shoulder and running back along the roll cage.

I wonder if a Kolpin gun boot will fit in that space? I want to carry my FNAR .308 pig gun more handily than now..

DUDE! That's my write up! I used a 3" PVC pipe. It was originally made for my '82 CJ-7 I had years ago. I converted it to fit in the JK

If you're gonna be fucking weird, own it.

I also carry a compact 9mm and a full size .40 in the center console. When I'm on the trails, I keep either the .40 or the 357 magnum tucked between the console and the seat as someone earlier said.

If you're gonna be fucking weird, own it.

That's a nice system.

I went cheap. I purchased a gun case similar to this Swiss Arms double rifle case. BTW: This case is on Amazon.com for $40.00

I ran the shoulder strap between the headrest post of both front seats, adjusting the strap to reach the desired hanging height. I like it high so the rifles touching the seat backs. This way, if I slam my brakes, the rifle doesn't bounce against the seat. Not that it matters, as the back of the seats are somewhat padded.

It leave me room to store my hunting stuff, and is tall enough for my big optics.

Prior to this, I had another cheapie rifle bag. I took it to my local saddle shop and had them sew on some adjustable straps, separated exactly the width between the two headrests. It cost me $20 for the strap, buckles, and labor.

Both are a non-permanent mount and it's quick and simple!

Technical write-ups, trip photos, firearm related posts. Just finished my M416-A1 restoration!
