Back seat Video for the Kids! DUal Zone Audio?

I am trying/going to attepmt to put in some monitors in the back of the headrests in the fronts seats so the kid can watch her Elmo while mommy drive her around!

I have the MyGig RER system and have read alot about the lock-picks and such. I have spoke with both the guys who build the lockpic and the AllGig about dual zone audio and neither offer a way to do this.

I am trying to get video from the Mygig to show up on the rear screens and the audio to come out of the rear speakers! I know I could be living in a dream land.

So what I am wondering if anyone has tried to rob parts from another Chrysler vehicle like a minivan with the rear entertainment package that should be capable of this?

I know I can get the IR headphones to make it happen I just don't think my kid will leave them on her head right now!

Mom would like to listen to Faction on Sirius in the front with Elmo going in the back!

Any Thoughts? I think it is going to take getting to "know" a tech at my dealer to unlock some of the features in the Mygig since it should be the same unit as the ones in the vans.

ps I will attempt to make my next post be more hard core like looking into a 1/4 eliptical setup for the rear suspension...

I have the ideal fix for this problem:

Step one: Sell me your Jeep DERT CHEEP.

Step two: Buy a minivan.

Yah yah, necro thread...

I was wondering about this myself and ran across this today. Click on the "Video Entertainment System". I think its set up to use headphones (if you want to isolate them) for the rear video screens so that the front pax can listen to the other speakers

Ahh I have not made it that far on this one... Too busy at my real job making real "Minivan" Parts!

Have not even lifted the Jeep yet, although it should happen soon.

I am still leaning to maybe getting a rear VES unit from another car/SUV that I can scavenge for parts and put something together that is my liking.

The headphones are a gift from God!! I have that setup in my "other" ride - an F250 - and it is the best thing since sliced bread. I used a dual zone Kenwood and it worked pretty good but the IR headphones are by far the best.

I didn't want anything fancy in the JK because I didn't want to give some smuck a reason to steal it. I got a set of the monitors that strap around the head rest and go in a nice little bag when not in use - out of sight out of mind....

Yeah that is what we currently do as well, I just hate the look and it looks even easier to steal and cause for a breakin since it is in the JK 100% of the time.

Plus I tend to always want to fiddle with something and never finish it to 100%

That is why I have been looking into Rear VES screen and dvd players on Ebay from same year mopar cars and truck to try and mod into the Mygig system and drive aftermarket monitors.

Who doen't like a challange

I did something similar to Bluerubi, but I got mine from Onfair for $409 with shipping included. I have the Mygig, but it would have cost more to add onto that. http://www.onfair.com/Shop/Control/f...orLanding/true

For the $409 I got 2 headrests each with its own DVD player built in behind the 9" monitor, 2 wireless headsets, one disk with 300 games, 4 controllers, and all wiring harnesses that plugs right into the cigarette lighter.

If you didn't want to use the headphones, you could plug a battery operated iPod speaker into the audio output jack on the unit.

If you need more info, or pictures, let me know.

These are both really good options.

Blue Rubi, yours is a little above the step up I am doing now. I am not too worried about theft as I believe it is all about being in the wron place at the wrong time. Not to mention I won't cover the Mygig Screen in the dash. So if the opportunity is there for a break in it will most likely just happen.

Street Jeep, I was supprised that the screens and headrest look so good! I was expecting them to be too large and look out of place, but they don't at all!

I still think one of my reasons for trying to make it all go through the head unit(Mygig) is so it can also be controlled 100% from the front. My duaghter will turn 2 next month so she is still a little away from being in full control! She can press buttons, but gets frustrated when she can not get it going again!

So there is still the lockpick option and a couple of headrest monitors to build in but this will end up running me a little north of $800 all in for the parts.

Or Option Q, stick with the one that is currently strapped to the headrest!
