Where are all the snorkels?

Personally I am not a big fan of snorkels. At least not if the intake is hanging outside the fender just begging to taken off. And certainly not for water crossings unless you take the rest of the necessary steps to actually make it so you can ford a river with water over the hood and no damage to electronics and fuel and lube systems. And last but not least strictly for appearance. However if relocating the intake actually provides non-restricted colder air source then I'd be all over it. ;)

So if you find one of those let me know. :D

Was just wondering if anyone out there has any experiance on these snorkel products, when it comes to slearance issues.

Does the door mounted mirror have clearance to open past them?

Does the door itself have a limited opening range when the snorkel is installed?

Is the snorkels that are avaiable out there connected to the windshield fram at all? Does it allow the windshield to be folded down?

I guess why'll I am asking the questions, unless you have a diesel, isn't the ignition and wiring harness just as big a problem on deep water crossings?

Thanks for your knowledge. :shaking:

Here's an other option, the AEV snorkel. This one I like very much.

And here is how it connects to the air box;

Can you tell us if there is any door interference when it is opened? Is there any supports up the windshiled frame, or can it still be lowered with out hitting. Is there provisions made for the other air sources like axle vents, things like that?

Looks great!

By the way, in the one catalog I read it said these hoods come prepainted to you stock color. Can anyone confirm that little tid bit of information? That is a huge blessing!:grinpimp:

Directly from AEV's site:
"Comes e-coated, ready to paint"
https://secure.aev-conversions.com/store/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=40303001AA
That means $750 plus paint
Nice thing is that if you decide to do the AEV snorkel with your stock hood and cut your stocker, its a lot easier to replace the hood if you have to than if you have to fix a hole punched in the side of your jeep for the other snorkels if you wanna remove it.
