kerryp 03-08-2009, 04:54 PM I have decided to purchase my next gun which will be a Colt Defender. I have looked all over town here and noone seems to have one in stock, so I am going to have to either order one from my local FFL here or online, so I thought I would post up here first to see if any of you know of any good places to get one at a good deal. If not, then i will just call around the FFLs here and check prices. Thanks

Champion Firearms in College Station has one... I held it in my hand last week.... I bought mine almost 10 years ago and remember it costing about $500 at one of the Houston gun shows. I have not looked at the price since then but 8 bills seems steep... I have only searched for a few minutes and am finding that $805 isn't a bad online price. I would still go to a gun show though..
Try one of the SA gun shows... no doubt about finding one there.

This one was nice as well... called the "New Agent" model (released in 2007) - same size as the defender.. but tailored for concealed carry. Funny though, I couldn't find it on the Colt website - I wonder if they stoped production on these already? Looks like a nice option.

kerryp 03-08-2009, 05:31 PM Yeah I looked at the agent too and if I can find one for the same price, I will consider one of those. I like the lack of sights, but until you posted those links, I thought the agent cost more.
Yes $800 is a chunk of change, thats one of the reasons I decided to post up to see if anyone knew of any better deals out there. I think the Saxon Gun show will be in Austin the 21st, so I may just wait and head over there and see what they have.
Check out these two places. I got my 1911 from a mom and pop in Florida and had it shipped to my FFL. Saved 300 bucks!

If you like that you will really like this, click on the boxes to the left to remove components or make them transparent, pretty cool little presentation:

That is very cool... I took a pic of my 90. I just finished coating it with matte black Duracoat. I like it but don't like how shiny it ended up. I used the matte clearcoat as well. Overall it is cool but I wanted it to be flatter. Looking at their website I now see that they have a "flattening" agent that you can add to the mix. Might have to put one more coat on.

kerryp 03-08-2009, 07:46 PM Nice gun, it is a little shinier that I would have thought matte would be

That second pic is the inside the belt/pant holster. Fits nicely in the ol' butt crack.
I ordered some of the "flattening" agent... hopefully it will dull it down a little. I want it almost as flat as the grips. This is my first go-round with DIY gun coating... should have practiced a bit first...

Do a search for B&H GunRack over at Meritt Island Florida. They are pretty cheap. I bought my last 3 guns from them.
GonzoX 05-24-2009, 04:23 PM Man that's cool as heck RG.
Wish it was an AVI file. Could come in handy if I ever buy a 1911 receiver.
