I don't know if anyone has seen this yet, but The Detroit News said that warranty has been extended to 10 years or 150,000 miles for left hand drive, 2007 JK's. 2008-12 right-hand drive have been recalled.

Here's my updated report on it. http://hooliganoffroad.blogspot.com/2011/12/update-nhtsa-closes-case-on.html

So nothing for anything other than 2007 lefthand drive then?

"Chrysler Group LLC said that 82 of 181 complaints were from right-hand drive Wranglers. " Makes perfect sense to me that they would only recall the right hand ones.:shaking:

Not as of yet. It's at least a step in the right direction. I find it odd that the right-hand housings are that different from the left-hand housings. It's also weird that 2008-12 RH are recalled, 2007 LH are extended. What about the 2007 RH and the 2008-12 LH that make them the exceptions? Seems like some questions that need to be answered. :shaking:

My airbags light has been on for a lil while too, do we wait for a letter or give the dealer a call?

Since it's not a recall, I doubt you will get a letter.

Sounds like they are only covering it if the clockspring is bad. So if you took you Jeep in and they find it to be an ABS sensor or something, you'd have to pay the diagnostic fee and then for that repair (if you decide to do it). Best bet would be to call your dealership's service department and get the low down from them. They may not be aware of the extended warranty yet either. That may be something they have to look up. I haven't had the best luck with service depts being up to date on stuff. :shaking:

Wow, I didn't know that many were having issues with the clock spring.

Yeah, it seems more people were having exhaust manifold issues than clockspring issues. But I would imagine since this is a safety issue, it gets priority. At least that is my guess.

One less expensive repair bill for 07's to worry about, but what about all the poor saps who already replaced theirs?

Would the clockspring be a potential reason my horn no longer works?

I've checked the fuses and replaced the horn.

Yes, that is a potential cause.

Switch the positions of fuses M22 and M23. See if that makes a difference.

yea not necessarily. I spoke to Chrysler Corporate today and they 100% DENIED that there was ANY warranty extension of ANY kind for the clockspring on the 07 JK.

See that's what makes me sick about all of this recall, warranty, and TSB crap. some people say they have received letters but I was basically told I didn't know what I was talking about and the people saying they received letters are liars.

All we have to go by is what people are saying on the forums and what not. we need some type of official letter stating these things like what we can find for TSB and recalls.

My dealer tells me until I can show them official documentation from Chrysler, then I will have to pay for the clockspring and labor.

sorry to bring up an old thread, but i am assuming that the RHD 07 has NO extended warranty?

i called the dealer and was told there was no recall for the clockspring. they acted like they had never heard of it.

i then said i believed it was an extension of the warranty regarding the clockspring. the guys entire tune changed, and he told me to bring it in.

I brought my jeep in and sure enough after the dealer did their investigating, I am having an issue with the clockspring....explains the air bag light that goes on and off and hopefully my non working horn. so now I am just waiting to take it back in to get it fixed.

I just cant believe how the guy acted on the phone about it all - God forbid you call it a recall, he acted like i was a crazy person. As soon as I said warranty extension he was like oh yeah, there is something like that.

very strange.

CHRYSLER'S RECALL NUMBER IS L37
NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number: 11V528000
CHRYSLER IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2008-2012 RIGHT HAND DRIVE (RHD) JEEP WRANGLER VEHICLES MANUFACTURED FROM FEBRUARY 1, 2007, THROUGH OCTOBER 10, 2011. SOME VEHICLES MAY BE EQUIPPED WITH DRIVER'S AIRBAG CLOCKSPRING ASSEMBLIES THAT COULD EXPERIENCE A COMPROMISED AIRBAG CIRCUIT RESULTING IN AN AIRBAG LAMP ILLUMINATION, WHICH INDICATES THAT THE AIRBAG MAY NOT DEPLOY.

So my 08 has light on bad clock spring...but I guess I'm SOL huh?

Airbag light? Doesn't hurt to call.

[QUOTE=HOOLIGAN;1066897]If I remember right, the RHD's were the one's that started the whole thing. I think you're covered.

i spoke to the dealer and he has no idea....suprise suprise.............anyone able to email me a copy of the "extended warranty" letter?

See my edited post above. I know it says MODEL years 2008-2012 but look at the MANUFACTURED date. I'd use that to argue your point.

Ya the light on my 08 came on too. I got the part and had it installed at Tuttle Click. The replacment is not that hard. Hardest part is getting the horn off.

Ya but if enough of us 08+
Make reports they'll extend it to include us!

Ditto

If you are having this happen, file a report with the nhtsa! If they get enough complaints, they investigate. I have a 2008 (left hand drive) and mine started 2 Weeks ago.

File your complaints here: https://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/VehicleComplaint/index.xhtml

It is under warranty and they are feeding you a line of bull shit. If it wasn't under warranty, Chrysler wouldn't have sent out the letters telling us they were extending the warranty on it.
