Electronics is not in my bag of tools... Maybe a trip to the dealership for a diagnosis? Even if they don't warranty it, you can at least find out whats wrong.. The Jeep dealership here is wheeling friendly..

hit it this past weekend with 6 other jks....

The trail is a little more washed out than it was for us in november...

None of us cleared the left side of whales tail...but two of us with 35's cleared a new "line" on the stairs...

Skid plates took a real beating, but everything survived...minus a few scratches, a broken valve stem, and a few poop ur pants moments...it was a perfect day!

We rented Cabin #6. I know Cabin 1 is still available.. If you want to crash with us, it has 1 queen and 2 single beds... I get the queen!! :thefinger: they are 75 for 4 people and 60 for 2. Not bad!

What would be your guess on what time we would be back off the trail?

airric00
02-17-2009, 09:08 AM
I have no idea.. I haven't run this one yet... Adrien ran it in the snow so he would be the person to ask.. I think were set to start at 11am. I would like to start sooner, but we will see I guess. Give him a shout, he has the red jk with stinger in this thread...

km2jk

Im here. It normally takes 2-2.5 hours alone with snow. A group this size will take more time for sure, but i would think less than 4. The 2nd group should get up there by 10:30 and as soon as we are all acounted for we can head up. Its about 3 miles from the Gunsmoke truck stop that we are meetin at to the trailhead.

WTF_LOL
02-17-2009, 12:40 PM
If I can get back on the road to start heading back by 3pm then I can do the run. Do you guys think that is realistic? I don't want to rush the run.

I suppose if it starts getting late I could just leave the group and blow through whats left solo so everyone can still take their time.

km2jk
02-17-2009, 01:13 PM
That may be possible. I have never done it with a large group. Im sure you could get through it alone quick if it came down to it.

I know. Unfortunatley we are short handed at work and I ony have Saturday off. I have too much stuff to do to dedicate a whole day to wheeling. I really hope one of you guys will be down to run it again soon.

I feel like I have been running fire roads for the last couple months.

BTW, glad to hear you got your locker working again Alec, that must be a nice relief. Is JE reel gonna replace your DS?

Not even going to ask them. This is DS #3 from them that failed on me. Phil got one fixed on his dime not theirs (thanks Phil) but at this point even though the first couple were possible my fault for a bad pinion angle, I知 gun shy. The rear lasted all of 10,000 miles and had the right angle from day one so I値l be ordering a Woods DS before Moab

Wish I could make it....but can't.
Here are some tips to make Chinamans more fun.
At the first rock pile, hug the left side as much as possible. Much more challenging and you get a nice big rash on your driver side rocker bars for good memories. Slide on down!

At Whale Rock, take the extreme left hand side. The other two ways up are for sissys and ninnies. Seriously though, you need a good amount of lift and big tires for the long Unlimiteds to get up. Don't bother if you are under 100 inches of WB. Once on the rock, don't give up or you'll go over on your passenger side. Really easy to do. If you can clear your front, right lower control arm, then you'll go up. If not....you'll never make it. 6 inches of lift and 37's.....or 40's.
Here is me going up. It's way tougher than it looks.
http://img25.imageshack.us/img25/8995/mtloganvq0.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
http://img25.imageshack.us/img25/mtloganvq0.jpg/1/w600.png (http://g.imageshack.us/img25/mtloganvq0.jpg/1/)

Lastly,
At the stairs, take the line to the left so you actually run your driver side door right up next to the tree. You'll be a few inches from the tree. You won't be able to back out of it once you have your tires in the ditch at the beginning of the rock. Go straight up from there.

He goes the onslaught of pics!! GREAT DAY! Was in the 50's and perfect weather.. Overall the day went as planned.. Minor carnage is expected on this trail.. I tore off the passenger front fender, the TJ broke a sway bar link, lots of dented bumpers and rock rails were used a plenty... We ran into a Rock Hard Wheeling group and they had a lot of carnage too... Bent tie rods and such.. Good times.. WE ALL made out in one piece!!! Got back to the cabin grilled up some burgers, watched the sun go down and hit the hot tub... The rest of the crew should be arriving in Denver shortly!!. Cheers!!!
